I don’t know if I’m a good judge of character or not, but I do know my Spidey sense tingles pretty quickly if I sense something off about a person.
A lot of times I won’t even know why right off the bat, but something in the back of my head will just say “does not compute” about some folks.
I’ve been mistaken for both better and worse a few times, but a lot of times I tend to get lucky and hit the mark.
Sometimes it’s just a vibe, but other times little telltale signs will get me.
Are they just a bit too eager?
A little too confident?
Do they throw a lot of words at you and say nothing at all?
Do they answer specific questions about past experiences a little too textbook or with phrases like “you should” or deflect to a future tense?
This is actually a tough one to answer because the other side of the coin is the old adage about the book and the cover.
And consider that this is also coming from a fella who’s been misjudged more times than he can count.
If I had a nickel for every time someone said “When I first met you I thought you were a real jerk” I’d be typing this post from the deck of my private yacht, but alas…
