Deja Vu much? (Prompt: 01/25/24)

Bloganuary writing prompt
What do you enjoy doing most in your leisure time?

Strange, I feel like I just answered a very similar question.

Anyhow, as some might argue, there is a difference between “fun” and “leisure”, so I’ll play along. 😄

I guess I would call the following activities “leisure”:

Napping:

Sometimes a midday nap on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon is just what the doctor ordered. When I was working my previous job I did this a lot. When one averages 3-4 hours sleep a night, any extra is welcome. I know they say you can’t make up for lost sleep, but that never stops me from trying. 😴

Television:

I don’t watch nearly the amount of television I used to, but I do enjoy catching a game (mostly football, basketball and hockey) or watching a movie from time to time.

Grocery store:

I actually don’t mind grocery shopping. I find it to be a pretty relaxing activity. It’s always an interesting exercise in observation. And it also ties into another leisure activity of mine.

Cooking:

Not something I do as much as I used to, but I still enjoy throwing a meal totally from scratch together at times. These days, I tend to short cut the hell out of it, but when time allows, I will throw together a homemade sauce, pizza, etc.

Anyhow, that’s about it in a nutshell. See you soon for the next episode of Repetitive WP Prompts! 😄

  1. I had a similar reaction, but maybe I need to refresh my understanding of fun and leisure! Great leisure activities, especially the napping 😴

    1. You and I both need to learn the difference it would seem 😄
I will never pass up the opportunity to crash if it’s available lol

  2. For me, it’s either taking a nap, going to the same beach, watching the same movie, engaging in some DIY activities, or just writing the goddamn diary haha!

    1. I notice that naps are very popular. Are we all really that sleep deprived? 😄

      1. Well, considering the world never runs out of things to do, maybe naps are just a rebellious act of stealing back a few moments for ourselves. Sleep deprivation? Nah, it’s just a power nap revolution. Hehe!

      2. The grocery store doesn’t always agree. I don’t think they are a fan of me practicing my three-point shot in the aisles when the mood strikes me. But, on the same token, they’ve not kicked me out yet. 😄

  12. So, seriously…dude LOL
WHY is your dude so big? LOL
I’d love to nap in the middle of the day. Only time I do, is when I’m sick and on medication.
The best thing in the world to me is Curbside Pickup. I’ve always hated grocery shopping and now I’m so happy to be able to do it without ever having to step into the store.
But, again, WHY is the dude so big? LOL LOL

I figure why not? If I’m gonna play around with these images, I might as well go big or go home! LOL
I can definitely see the appeal of curbside pickup. It’s the same appeal I have for ordering 90% off my merch off Amazon. Keeps me out of the department stores
Have a great day! And don’t pick on the big dude. He’s sensitive. 🤣

  13. HAHA this made me laugh! Ikr- the prompts lately have been very repetitive. Makes posting for my own blog seem different, since I don’t do the prompts for that. My blog is: https://youarethechangethatyouseek.wordpress.com/ I would love any/all support! As a struggling journalist, It’s hard to get my work out there.

You must like to work out too. Your biceps are quite pronounced. Does that make it harder to stir, fold, and poach when you cook? I would think some flexibility would be needed for cooking. Several other posters mentioned cooking as a passion. It is not my, passion, nor is working out. But if those were my two great passions, I would add flexibility to my routine.

    1. Aye, nothing wrong with a little light stretching before cooking up the old dinner. A visit to the chiro for a regular tune up doesn’t hurt either, 😄

There is quite a good stretching exercise called ‘reach for the sky’. You pretend you are a stage coach robber riding a pretend horse all around (aerobics). The instructor (As the sheriff) calls out ‘reach for the sky’, and you stop ‘riding’ and reach out all your limbs. The ‘sheriff’ then rounds you up to the tree for hanging ‘more stretching’ and then y’all go after another stagecoach. Quite fun. It doesn’t really pertain to cooking though. Cowboys just ate a lot of beans.

      2. Sounds like one hell of a cracking exercise for the neck there. I’ll have to find someone to demo this before I try it for myself though. Just to get the basics down, of course.
It’s often said the cookie was the most respected person on those long cattle drives.
Piss cookie off and you might get hardtack and water, if you got anything at all!

I’ve heard that said about cookie and can confirm some of that truth. Our cookie was not mean, or even grumpy, but he was a perfectionist and that comes with being demanding. He was very much a perfectionist when it comes to his cooking. Maybe there were a lot of beans, but those beans were Spivey, and savory, and warm. And yet cookie could often be a reliable player in pranks and gags. If I sent a greenhorn to his chuckwagon for a ‘smoke shifter’ or ‘bacon stretcher’ he was quick witted to play along, and he always got a chuckle out of the antics. But that is really nothing to do with the topic of cooking with bulging triceps and biceps. We digressed. It happens.,
