That’s What I Want

Bloganuary writing prompt
What would you do if you won the lottery?

Money, that’s what I want!

Before we begin the festivities, this post is brought to you by Great White’s kickass cover of “Money (That’s What I Want)”

Now, on with the show!

What will I do when I win the lottery?

Well, when I do win the lottery, first thing, aside from getting a financial advisor, I am going to do, is take care of my family. I owe them for all the years they took care of me when I was down and needed a hand. It’s only right that I pay them back and then some.

The second thing I will do is give some to my best friend. She has been there for me through good times and bad. When I was at my lowest, she propped me up, and when I was at my highest, she was one of the few who was genuinely happy for me and my success. Without her friendship, guidance and support, I would not be half the person that I am.

I will also donate to a few causes that mean a lot to me. Local animal shelters, diabetes and cancer research are three that come to mind immediately. I have seen what diabetes and cancer can do to people and their families, including my own. I want to see these conditions eradicated forever with effective, pain-free treatments. And animal shelters because our furry friends deserve all the love and dignity we can provide them.

I will also start or invest in a motivational speaking and writing business. More and more, I find myself drawn to the cause of lifting up others and wanting them to see and understand how much each and every one of us matters.

There will also be a healthy dose of investing in various stocks and other assets to continue supporting myself, my family and these causes.

After that, I will get downright silly and indulgent.

I will buy myself a genuine EVH Frankenstein guitar, a wall of 5150 amps, and build a sweet ass, soundproof, fully equipped jam room/studio, which is going to be adjacent to my fully equipped home gym.

And then, I am going to rent out a huge hall and throw the biggest freaking party the universe has ever known. All you can eat and drink, DJs, live bands, the works! I will be inviting travelers from far and wide, so get your plane tickets and passports in order, y’all!

So, I think that’s a pretty good start. A few indulgences, but first and foremost, I will be taking care of the things that truly matter in this world.

Peace y’all!

    1. Thank you so much. From someone I view in that light, it means a great deal to me. 🙏🙏
I try my best, but it’s still a work in progress. But I guess life usually is, isn’t it?

      2. It’s not about getting credit for me these days. I try to avoid that, as it is a dangerous path to tread. Become to friendly with the concept and it can lead to a never ending treadmill.
I prefer to underpromise and overdeliver lol

      5. Just a friendly suggestion, I wanted you to read “Why has No One Told Me This Before by Dr. Julie Smith”.
The book has given me the strength to accept and love myself with my disability. Reading it since November. I have been in a good head space since then☺

  2. Finally, a rational answer! Investing and getting a financial advisor are definitely the priority.
I also agree with the causes. All three are important to me too 🙂

As for the “selfish” part, I’d move myself to Canada, somewhere near the mountains and woods, so the 7 dogs I’d like to have can run around freely 😄

    1. Good day, Andrea! While I would certainly stand by indulging a bit, I would be remiss not to mention sustainability and helping others. Too many people have helped me that not acknowledging and paying this back is just plain wrong to me.
I can’t believe I forgot to mention my mountain retreat. That’s on my list too! lol

  3. I love It how once again you referenced a song quote!

It’s interesting how everyone has their own unique dream of what to do if they won the lottery. I think you’d make a great motivational speaker / writer one day if you ever had the chance!

    1. Thanks, much Melissa. I think it’s something I’d definitely enjoy. With time and practice, who knows?
Yes, everyone has different things that drive them, which is great. If we all liked the same things life would be pretty lame lol
