Prompt: 02/12/24

Daily writing prompt
If you had the power to change one law, what would it be and why?

I’m keeping this one short and sweet today.

Anyone who harms a woman or child should be severely punished. Prison is far, far better than they deserve.

In the interest of decorum, I will leave the level of punishment I mean to your speculation.

  1. I agree, but harm to men should not be accepted either. Whether it is done by another man or woman.๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Many of them don’t even get prison and even if they do they’re out in the blink of an eye. It’s heartbreaking. I very much agree that their punishment should be far more severe. That would decrease violence against women and children and stop repeat offenders for the most part.

    1. I do think that is the case, yes.
On the flip side, it would also take the option for some of these women to go back to these men away.
I never understood why some women do that, but I don’t walk in their shoes and it’s not my place to judge.

      1. I think it’s a bit like Stockholm Syndrome/trauma bonding. It’s more complicated than that of course but that’s what I learnt. Also, many of them rely on the abuser financially.

      2. That’s why I said I am in no place to judge. I know it’s rarely that simple.
Funny you mention financial dependence. I just saw a clip where Cardi B. talks about why she went into stripping, and it was because she didn’t have the money to leave her abusive boyfriend at the time.

      3. Yeah, I’ve heard her say that on interviews too. I think she also had some issues with her mum at the time so she literally had no where else to go. People are so quick to judge her for being a stripper but there is always more to the story than that. I’m happy she got out of that relationship and was able to make a name for herself.

      4. No one ever truly knows everything someone is going through, and judging someone solely based on their profession is not always wise. Obviously, there’s exceptions to that, like anything else in life.

      5. Absolutely, I think so too.
