Music Appreciation 101 w/Prof. Barbarian

Greetings, all! During a recent conversation with my little sister Aastha, the topic of music came up. She asked me what would a slightly out of shape barbarian listen to while he was training?

Well, before music, he should probably listen to a nutritionist and put that second donut down. 😲

But on the topic of music, he would likely listen to a lot of 80s rock and metal. OK, not likely…He would. There may be a sprinkling of 90s and 00s in there, but 80s is where his heart resides.

As this list is likely to be extensive, I will refrain from embedding videos, lest the page would never load. Y’all gonna have to look ’em up yourselves. πŸ˜„

So, anyhow…Let’s get to it shall we?

Without further ado, here are a simple barbarian’s humble music recommendations. Happy listening!

(P.S. this list is likely to be a little VH heavy. I’ll try to keep it as even as possible, but no promises.)

“Panama” – Van Halen

“Drop Dead Legs” – Van Halen

“Mean Street” – Van Halen

“So This Is Love?” – Van Halen

“Ice Cream Man” – Van Halen

“Aftershock” – Van Halen

“5150” – Van Halen

“Women In Love” – Van Halen

“Little Guitars” – Van Halen

Okay, ya know what? We’ll be here all day. Any Van Halen, damn it! 🀣

Now, onto the rest. In no particular order:

“Crazy Train” – Ozzy Osbourne

“Tonight” – Ozzy Osbourne (Personal favorite right here. That outro guitar solo, my God.)

“The Road To Nowhere” – Ozzy Osbourne

“Raise Your Hands” – Bon Jovi

99 In the Shade” – Bon Jovi

“In My Dreams” – Dokken

“Sleepless Nights” – Dokken

“Hit The Lights” – Metallica

“Wasted Years” – Iron Maiden

“House of Doom” – Black Label Society

“Goin’ Crazy!” – David Lee Roth

“She’s My Machine” – David Lee Roth

“Turn Up the Radio” – Autograph

“Dragula” – Rob Zombie

“Go Faster” – The Black Crowes

“No Excuses” – Alice In Chains

“Black Hole Sun” – Soundgarden

“Before They Make Me Run” – Rolling Stones

“Yesterdays” – Guns N’ Roses

“Paradise City” – Guns N’ Roses

“Stand” – Poison

“Highway To Hell” – AC/DC

“Love Me” – Tesla

“Cherry Cola” – The Eagles of Death Metal (Don’t worry, they aren’t death metal lol)

I think that’s enough for that list right now. In closing, I will list a few from the mellower side:

“Road Back Home” – Zakk Wylde

“Life Without You” – Stevie Ray Vaughan

“Life By the Drop” – Stevie Ray Vaughan

“316” – Van Halen

“Take It To The Limit” – Eagles

“Hotel California” – Eagles

    1. Thanks, Rob! This list is far from all-encompassing, and I’ve been known to lean a bit harder into it as well, but my first love is definitely 80s rock. 🀘

  4. You can always rationalize the second donut also, lol. ”It’s all about the exercise not the carbs”. If you’ve seen any of the videos, it’s insane what The Rock eats every day. At one point, he said his cheat day consisted of TEN pizzas. O_O

    1. Yes, I’ve seen. And he’s not the only one who does that. Pro bodybuilders are even worse. But considering the *ahem* help*ahem* some of them get, they can get away with it lol
And I’m not hating, just saying. To each their own.

  6. I found some great songs on there. Nice! I like rock music too, but I rarely listen to it actually. Too busy with my playlists with bass heavy songs πŸ˜‚

    1. Hey, to each their own I say! I listen to some other stuff too, but the 80s/90s stuff is my main thing.
