To Enjoy One’s Job…

Daily writing prompt
Do you enjoy your job?

One would need to have a job first. 🤣

Per yesterday’s post, I do not have one at the moment, so this question technically doesn’t apply to me. But I’m gonna answer anyhow.

Currently, my days consist of drinking coffee, firing out applications, lifting some weights, and making blog posts. Pretty enjoyable, other than the pesky paycheck issue.

But on a serious note for a second, yes, I did love the job I was doing for the most part. Granted, it didn’t end the way I’d have preferred, but that aside, I liked it.

Ironically, the best part and the worst part about it was dealing with people. A lot of times it was petty complaints, a bunch of he said/she said bullshit and middle school drama. From grown adults, mind you.

But, then there were the people who made it totally worthwhile. The ones who were always striving to improve and learn more. They made it an absolute joy, because nothing was impossible to them. It wasn’t eight hours of naysaying and bitching.

And when those people moved up into better roles? Total win. There are a lot of folks I am very, very proud of, and it’s them I miss more than anything. That was what made me love that job.

I hope I am able to find a team like that wherever my next adventure takes me. If so, then I’m 99 in the shade.

  1. Why do I feel like people who were bullies in middle school end up at office jobs and totally rule it because that’s all they are ever capable of.. creating a toxic culture every where they go! Unlike you, who writes and creates and is kinder perhaps. Anyway, I am so excited for what’s going to come your way! Good luck with your applications and everything!

    1. It does happen that way sometimes, yes. A lot of them, and this is not a knock against higher education, also think because they have a degree in something, everyone beneath them is a serf. I sometimes wonder if they hand out a dose of cynicism and superiority with the diplomas at commencement ceremonies. 😄
And again, I know plenty of good people with degrees. It’s just the ones who act like dictators ruin it a bit.

Thank you! It will be a good ride wherever I end up. 😎

  7. Yes, people can both make or break others at work. I love that you’re so happy for the people who worked so hard and got promoted/moved onto other jobs. I like your day of coffee and weights, Kevin. I’m hoping an awesome company hires you and that you get to work in a happy place with really great people xx
