Good morning and welcome to another episode of Triple S. I’ll be posting up six songs for your listening enjoyment. They might be old, new, obscure, popular, or somewhere in between.
Wherever the needle lands is where we’re gonna go. 😄
Have a great Sunday and enjoy. 🤘
John Mellencamp – “Ain’t Even Done With The Night”
Back when he was going by John Cougar. That was more than a minute ago, huh?
Anyhow, one of my favorite songs from him. Just captures the vibe of awkwardness and young love (lust?) pretty much perfectly.
John Mellencamp – “Get A Leg Up”
I rarely post two from an artist in the same week, but this is another great tune from the man. Love the line “I ain’t that handsome, but ya know I ain’t shy.”
Frehley’s Comet – “Calling To You”
One of my favorite songs ever. Ace’s project when he made a late 80s comeback after leaving Kiss. I saw him live on this tour, and he was on fire. A real anthem that could have been huge with the right promotion.
Rainbow – “Power”
Legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore’s band after leaving Deep Purple. Ronnie James Dio was the original vocalist, signing on hits like “Man On The Silver Mountain”. This song is from the Joe Lynn Turner era off the Straight Between The Eyes album. Another anthem that isn’t particularly well known, but a good one nonetheless, in my opinion.
The Police – “Wrapped Around Your Finger”
Off Synchronicity, their final album together. The Police struck gold (platinum, actually) several times back in 1983. “Every Breath You Take” is the oft misunderstood mega-hit off that album, but there were numerous huge songs off the disc, of which this is one.
Powerman 5000 – “Jump”
As a diehard Van Halen fan, I am sure it would surprise some that I don’t necessarily view covers of VH songs as pure sacrilege. As long as they’re done decently, I kind of enjoy them. I like this version of “Jump” because PM5K put their own stamp on it while still paying homage to the original.
So, that’s a wrap for this episode. I hope you have a great Sunday and rock the F on! 🤘😎🤘
