Moonweasel’s 6-Song Sunday 10.13.24

Good day and Happy Sunday, people!

Mr. M is back with another 6-pack of tunes to help you get through your day.

The genre doesn’t matter here. A good song, is a good song!

Hopefully, you can find something here to tickle your fancy and tap your toes to. Have a great one folks, and rock on!

Cinderella – “The Last Mile”

Long Cold Winter is one of my favorite 80s albums. Cinderella had a knack for writing some killer riffs and hooks, and I think this album shows that the best of all their material.

Rebel Meets Rebel – “Rebel Meets Rebel”

The collaboration between David Allen Coe and the Pantera boys minus Phil. A cool, fun, kickass album that melds country and metal pretty damn skillfully.

Billy Joel – “That’s Not Her Style”

Storm Front got a lot of play in the Persian Gulf way back when. One of the lesser known songs off the album, but one of my favorites.

Bonus: Also adding the live version from Yankee Stadium.

Van Halen – “She’s The Woman”

Track off the 2012 release A Different Kind of Truth. The album which saw the return of David Lee Roth as frontman, and the last studio album recorded by the band in any iteration.

“She’s The Woman” was a demo song (produced by Kiss’ Gene Simmons) from way back in 1976 that the band reworked for ADKOT. I love the 2012 version, but must admit a bit of affinity for the demo, which includes the breakdown that was later used on the 1981 song “Mean Street” off Fair Warning.

I am including the 2012 version, the demo and also “Mean Street” as well to satisfy my VH OCD.

“Bring it or don’t ring it,” indeed.

Duran Duran – “Hungry Like The Wolf”

They might have been New Wave, Pop, or whatever, but these guys could write a catchy tune, no doubt. Rock and Metal are my main jams, but this is one sexy song.

Jerry Cantrell – “Gone”

When you’re feeling a certain way, this song just drives it home. Think Pouring a tall glass of whiskey at 1:00 AM, lighting up a smoke and staring blankly out your window, and you’ll understand what I mean. Hauntingly beautiful in it’s own way.

We stretched the boundaries of “6-Song” more than a bit this week, but what the hell. The mood called for it.

Have a good one, folks. Rock the F on. 🤘🤘

  3. Duran Duran Hungry like a wolf was definitely a song I loved when it came out. I was so fascinated by their video at the time. I absolutely loved it.

    1. Their videos were definitely cutting edge at the time, and I think their musicianship was sorely overlooked because of how they looked.

Was given a few Nagel prints, like the one on the Duran Duran cover, unsure what to do with them because it’s hard to imagine having them up, but both the band and those images really touch a clear 80s button. 😀

    1. Personally, I’d hang them up. But that’s my unashamed love of the era talking LOL
