You wear them
Constantly
Indiscriminately
A persona
Cloaks of kindness
Ashamed
To tell them
To show them
True self
No good
No evil
Just…

Whoa! Nicely done. Looks like you’re on a roll today. Glad to know that the inspiration is back. People do wear a lot of masks. It can be really hard to truly know someone. Just the other day, a fellow blogger and I were discussing the fact that we have many versions of ourselves that we share with different people. Makes one wonder if anyone knows the true self at all.
Thank you, Shweta. Yes, we have to present different facets of ourselves to different people and in different settings. To one degree or another, we are all actors, really. We kind of have to be, I guess.
I think it’s more important that we try and know our own true selves. Social norms sometimes preclude the fact that we have to put on a performance.
We may work with someone we absolutely despise, but decorum and professionalism demand we don’t show it. Just one example.
Great job π did you know that mascara (the make up) translates from Spanish and Portuguese to the English word βMaskβ! So women are in essence masking their faces (which the vast majority actually do) by wearing make up
I don’t do this. I am actually upfront one hundred percent of the time. I say exactly what I mean. Must explain why people find me so confusing.
Wearing a face that she keeps in a jar by the door…..
Very cool ink, Kevin! πποΈ
Sadly, you cloak your bitterness,
With niceties and banality,
Nothing hidden,
Soon will be brought to light.
As promised
Indeed, many people wear masks. Some which they never take off. Sometimes the mask underneath is far more horrifying than the one they present.
Well put, Kevin. Yes, we kind of have to present these different facets.
Haha. True. A few people came to my mind when I read that ‘despise’ part.
Brilliant take on the prompt π
