Give Peace A Glance

The time for peace has come and gone

The time for war has set upon

“Peace be with you”, so they say

It’s just another game we play

Platitudes and fake hellos

You know we’d rather come to blows

You hide your demons deep inside

Another smiling suicide

A hypocrite in prophet’s clothes

Your true agenda no one knows

I watch your “peace” go up in smoke

While on your phony words I choke

You say we should give peace a chance

I barely give a backwards glance

The above piece is NOT a political statement. Anyone who knows me knows that I prefer not to discuss that entire dumpster fire as a whole.

It is nothing more than my observations of people and everyday life, and I am sure most all of you have encountered at least one person to whom these words could apply in your lives.

Thank you very much for reading.

  2. It’s weird you posted this as I just said to my husband tonight that I’ve never known a time when so many people DIDN’T want peace! Just keep the wars going $$$$$

    1. It’s really an overreaching theme to me. Even in everyday life, how many people keep the drama going instead of just going about their own business? Too damn many, in my opinion.

The overreaching feeling these days, from the most mundane to the biggest stage in the world – There will always be hypocrites. Sadly.

    1. Honestly, I think both can be in their own unique way. Both are practiced in the art of deception, for sure.

  7. Didn’t think it was a political statement, to me it is just a poem about how things look and can be applied to all sides of conflict. I like the way your words just flowed a damn good poem

With all the events going on these days, I figured it was best to get the disclaimer out there just in case anyone took it that way.
