Good day, ladies and gentlemen!
It’s that time of the week again, so here we go with another edition of Triple S.
Mr. Moonweasel has a whole new six pack for your listening pleasure, so without further delay, away we freaking go!
“Still I drive down this lonely, lonely road.”
As a diehard son of the 80s, I will always gravitate to the music of that era. Slaughter, like a lot of the bands of the time, were oft maligned by critics, but they had some catchy songs, and Mark Slaughter had a set of pipes on him to boot.
Anyone who has ever lost someone can relate to the lyrics in this one. It’s hard letting go, but deep down, we know we have to.
But there’s always a piece that remains no matter what. I don’t think any of us would want it another way.
“When the lights go down in the city and the sun shines on the bay.”
For some reason, this song always makes me think of my grandfather. No clue why. It just does.
I won’t say any more here for fear of getting too emotional.
Just enjoy the music.
“Just give me the night.”
And you thought Mr. M was a one-trick pony. Silly geese! He’s not a pony, he’s a Moonweasel!
Man…Is George Benson just plain smooth or what?
I’m not huge into jazz, but I do love me some George Benson. He sings as well as he plays, and sometimes the mood just calls for something besides hair metal.

Coming to a jazz club near you: Moonweasel & The Chinchillas.
“I’ve been a gambler but I’m nobody’s fool.”
No, it’s not “Rock and Roll All Nite” or “Firehouse”, but I like this one all the same. Kiss is another band that’s taken a critical beating, but damn it, they had some great tunes too. Was it more about the show and the visuals? Yes. Do I care? Nope. ๐
“I’ve got dozens of friends and the fun never ends. That is, as long as I’m buying.”
“I’d go out cruisin’ but I got no place to go, and all night to get there.”
Yeah, I can relate to that. ๐
Probably my favorite Styx song ever. It just speaks to me because I think we’ve all felt this way more times than we care to count.
“Once over, I’m overdone.”
Lest ye think I was going too soft. ๐
One of the more upbeat cuts off Van Halen’s fairly dark masterpiece, Fair Warning.
I love this album from front to back, top to bottom, and everywhere in between. A pissed off Eddie Van Halen breeds some obscene riffs and solos. The lowest selling of the original six-pack (Dave-era) releases, but a favorite of guitarists and diehards all over the world.
Pardon my language, but I say it again – a fucking masterpiece.
RIP, Eddie. Still miss ya.
And that concludes this week’s edition of Triple S! Thank you, and I hope you enjoy it! See you soon with another one!
