30-Day Pushup Challenge (Days 16-20)

I’ve now passed the halfway mark in my 30-Day Pushup Challenge and we’re now on the downhill side of things.

Side note: Scary that the first month of the New Year is already half over. Crazy! And I’ve only written the wrong year once, shockingly.

Anyhow, on with this week’s report:

01/16/24:

200 pushups completed. Still a bit sore from my 1,000 Rep excursion, but not too terrible. Broke them down into sets of 50 per usual. Nothing overwhelmingly positive or negative to report. Just four sets of solid pushups.

01/17/24:

200 pushups completed. 4 sets of 50, 2 sets of diamond pushups, 2 sets of normal pushups. Almost forgot to do them today, I was sidetracked with some other stuff and then my internal alarm went off and reminded me ๐Ÿ˜„

01/18/24:

200 pushups completed. First set was a set of 75, next was 25 and then two more sets of 50 to finish it off. Bit of tenderness in the left elbow today, but nothing terrible. Not totally unexpected in this circumstance though. If I have to modify and do partials for a day, I will. See how it feels tomorrow!

01/19/24:

200 pushups completed. Ended up doing four sets of 50 for partial reps, as today, my right elbow decided to start clicking. Ironically, the left elbow that was bugging me yesterday is fine. Go figure! Anyhow, still on pace to finish the week and polish off the last 11 days of this challenge.

01/20/24:

220 pushups completed. Had trouble getting going and started off slow today with two sets of 25 and then three sets of 50 spread out through the morning. In the afternoon, I felt like I could do a bit more, so I did two sets of one-armed pushups, ten per side. Ten days to go and I can put this challenge to bed!

  1. Wow that’s really impressive…though I probably don’t qualify as a judge here ๐Ÿ˜‚, can’t do 1 regular push up, and at most 5 of the female version. 200 push-ups a day sounds to me like you’d be sporting abs like in the feature image…that’s nice

    1. So, why not do a challenge for yourself and commit to doing 20 per day total? Do them in groups of 5 and space them throughout the morning. That’s what I do with mine as you’ve seen.
We all start somewhere! It’s not like I had the magical ability to do a bunch on day 1.
Re: Abs. Not right now, because the old adage is true about not being able to out exercise a diet. ๐Ÿ˜„
I don’t eat total garbage, but I definitely need to tighten it up. Perhaps that will be my next challenge. *Pondering*

      And thank you! ๐Ÿ™

      1. Hahaha

I use a 15min dance workout from YouTube when I do exercise, it has a bit of everything(including the 5 pushups I mentioned) and is perfect. I walk a lot daily for regular exercise and simply something I do as part of my day. I’m already very skinny and I fear doing 20 pushups a day will make me look muscular, a look I personally don’t find attractive on a woman

      2. If you’ve found what works for you, that is awesome! It makes exercise a lot easier when you enjoy it.
A lot of women have that fear, but honestly, it’s not going to make you look more muscular. It would build strength, endurance and probably tone a bit, but it’s not going to make one look like a bodybuilder by any means.
Again, though, if you are happy with what you are doing that is what’s important! ๐Ÿ™‚

      3. I will try to do the 5 pushups in my routine properly as starter lol, I usually give up on it so quick, but will try better now. Thank you Kevin.

      4. That’s great! Give them your best shot. They will become easier in no time! You got this! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  2. Youโ€™re more than half-way there!

    1. Indeed! Looking to make the last 10 really good. The one thing I don’t like is that there were too many “half-assed” days in these journals.

      1. Well, one positive is that half-assed is better than no-assed. I just made that up. But you know what I mean, I hope. ๐Ÿ˜„

      2. Nope, I totally get it. And we should put that on a t-shirt lol
And that is the upside and I knew it would happen anyhow – I wanted to prove to myself that I could grind through it even on days I totally didn’t want to.

      3. Absolutely. Doing something is better than doing nothing. And youโ€™ll still meet your goal of 30 days. Sometimes we have to go a little easy on ourselves trying to meet a goal. I find it easier to meet it if Iโ€™m giving myself some grace.

      4. I gave myself a fair amount of leeway, because I knew there’d be days that wouldn’t be silky smooth.
Setting too rigid a rulebook can sometimes lead to giving up.

      5. Exactly. If the bar is placed too high, it seems an unreachable goal.

      6. Yeah, it needs to be manageable or you set yourself up for failure.
Shot myself in the foot one time too many and realize that now lol

  4. Congrats on the success you’ve had so far! You’ve inspired me to join you. I haven’t done anything in almost 2 years now, so I think I will start with something a bit smaller than that to get the motivation to stick with it.

      2. That’s entirely up to you and what you’re comfortable with. And who cares what the number is? You’re taking a step to improve, that’s the important part.
Test yourself. Try, say, 40 – 50 total per day for a couple days. If that’s good, try adding more and see how you feel. If you feel good, that’s your number. Listen to your body, it’ll give you feedback.
Even if you aren’t comfortable posting the number you commit to out of the gate, make a weekly post checking off the days you completed it. It’ll probably help motivate you to see the days adding up.
