Pizza, Please!

Daily writing prompt
What’s your favorite thing to cook?

I actually enjoy cooking a lot of different things, but if I had to pick one, it would be pizza.

An anyone who saw this post might have guessed, I do rather enjoy pizza in all it’s myriad forms.

To that end, I will often make it myself and experiment with different toppings, breads, etc.

Sometimes I make my own dough, but oftentimes I will get a pre-made crust, naan or French bread simply for convenience.

I will make more traditional pies like pepperoni, combo, etc., but sometimes I take a left turn and make a bacon, cheddar and potato pie, or a chicken tikka masala themed pizza.

I can’t recall any that were an absolute fail, and most come out pretty damned good if I do say so. 😉

Aside from pizza, I’d have to say that chili is a close second. I started making it years ago and it turned out to be pretty popular with friends and family.

I don’t experiment too terribly much with the chili, as it seems to be a pretty well received as is. Occasionally I will toy with the spice level, but beyond that I leave it alone.

Anyhow, now I am in the mood for pizza. Shocking, I know.

  3. Hahah, I’d like to see a man like that making pizza for me in the kitchen.
But in real life, it is me making the pizza for my other half and not even eating it.
While I do love pizza, it will make my stomach upset. So I skip.
But in general, I do like making dough from scratch.
And if one day my dream comes true, and I have a cabin near the woods and mountains, I’d love a stone oven (is it called like that?). It beats a regular oven any time 😄

I usually don’t put too many ingredients on my pizza. Usually it is a basic margerita with either mushrooms or onions as an additions 😄

I visited Rome and did eat pizza with here, but there is a German restaurant chain which which, in my opinion, serves the best pizza 😄

    1. As much as I do love it, I have tried to curb my consumption a bit as well. Too much of a good thing and all that. 😄
There’s a frozen pizza here called Dr. Oetker which calls itself Italy’s number one pizza. And it’s made in Germany. Funny enough, it’s pretty damn good lol

  4. Never had pizza using either French bread or naan! I should give that a try! I make my own dough with garlic granules and rosemary to give it some more flavour. Any leftover dough will be made into foccaccia. 😋

    1. They’re both pretty quick and convenient if you don’t feel like, or have time to, make a dough. And they both cook fairly quickly, especially the naan, due to the thinness of the bread.
You now have your kitchen hack for the day. 😄

I’ve just started making my own pizza’s. I make the dough too. I’ve been practicing tossing the dough. My son (22) came home the other night and made a pizza. He finger pressed the dough out on the stone? I don”t know. Something him and his buddy concocted and their crust, using the same dough, stove, oven, comes out better than mine. -_- 😂

    1. That’s great! Do you stick to traditional toppings or experiment?
I “think” I pres the dough out the same way your son does. Just keep pushing it out with the fingers until it stays as close to the edge of the stone/pan as much as possible.
I don’t toss the dough, simply because I know it would end up on the floor 😄

We do some experimenting. Not too much as we don’t like the same things. I think the last one was with a white sauce, chicken, bacon, broccoli and onion. My son likes to use bbq sauce- not a fan myself.
Your process sounds like his. I suck at tossing it, and I may try this other method you guys have learned next time, I don’t need to do it the hard way😅

    1. That’s kind of my thought. I’m not a pro, why do I care about throwing the damned thing around? lol
That white pizza sounds excellent. I might nick that idea for next time!
I like a bbq pizza every now and again, but when I crave one, I usually buy it for some odd reason. Never think to make it. 🤷‍♂️

  7. I really want to try to make pizza from scratch at some point, I’ve never done that but it seems so fun. Pizza is one of those foods that leave a lot of room for experimentation and there are so many ways you can enjoy it. Great, now I want in the mood for pizza too 😜

    1. Good, now I’m not the only one lmao
You should give it a shot. It’s really not that hard at all.
I’ve been lazy and using pre-made breads lately, but really even including the dough, it’s not tough at all.

  9. As expected, pizza is your favorite thing to cook!!! How do you feel about pizza with an asparagus and onion topping? I once saw that in the Whole Foods pizza section.

    Liked by 2 people

    1. If the asparagus was charred and not all floppy, I’d give it a shot. If it’s an ingredient I straight up don’t like that’s another story entirely.

      1. If I remember correctly, the asparagus was charred. I once saw a buffalo wings and Mac and cheese pizza topping…like calories on top of calories lol

      2. Not sure about combining both. I’ve had each separately as a topping. Buffalo, yay. Mac and Cheese, not so much. lol
Charred asparagus I would definitely give a shot.
