Well, let’s see… A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.
OK, so it wasn’t that long ago and it was our own galaxy. Cut me some slack here. I’m trying to make it mildly interesting. 😋
Shoes! Why, yes, Virginia, I have worn them, thank you.
When I was a young lad, I wore sneakers. Oh, the places they took me! School, work, stores. Really, pretty much everywhere.
I had Nikes, I had Pony, Reebok, Converse. Pretty much the whole gamut of big names back in the day. Had a sweet pair of Air Jordans that I wore the hell out of.
But, what I really wanted was a pair of red, white and black striped ones like Eddie Van Halen had. Unfortunately, they were not available to the public until eons later.
Once I got out of the service (where I lived in combat boots) and went to work full time, every job I had pretty much required steel toe boots. I ended up wearing those so much, that whenever I tried to wear sneakers, my feet would hurt so bad I could barely walk.
It’s safe to say that I have not bought a pair of sneakers in well over 20 years. It’s been work or combat boots since then, and usually steel or composite toe.
Where to they take me? Well, since it’s all I wear, everywhere! And now, another musical number to close out the proceedings.
