To Sharpen the Blade Once More (1)

It had been many months since the last campaign, and despite his untimely exile, Korv the Barbarian adjusted nicely to life away from the battlefield.

Indeed, he had pressed hard and proven his mettle in countless battles. His downfall had come when he insulted the conniving, self-proclaimed countess of the realm. Korv had realized the error of his ways, and tried to atone for his actions, but the fates decided against him.

Korv realized he had much to learn about his own limitations and vowed to use this as a learning experience. He took this time as a chance to grow and improve.

Korv had even taken to writing. He had hoped to improve his skills as a creator and to help others learn from his mistakes.

Korv found a place to share his writings, and was delighted to find a community of like-minded folk who not only shared their own experiences, but also supported his endeavors. He was quite happy, indeed. He both wrote and read with great delight.

Korv also took this time as an opportunity to recharge after so many grueling campaigns. He slept and ate well for the first time in what seemed like an eternity. He had even taken it upon himself to train very hard and documented his journey.

He also had some nagging injuries, and his regimen had only made these worse. Korv, being stubborn as was his wont, continued regardless. Eventually, though, he had to consult the village healer to cure what ailed him.

While he nursed his injuries, Korv continued to rest and eat well. Perhaps a bit too well.

Korv continued to learn, visiting the village teachers regularly and performed quite well in his academic pursuits. As his aches and pains started to subside, Korv resolved to begin training again.

Korv found that his sword felt much heavier than the last time he wielded it, and he felt as though he was moving through mud. He suspected sorcery at first, but deep down he knew that the only sorcerer at work here was the dinner plate(s) in front of him.

That day, tired and panting for breath, Korv knew what must be done. He must stand up and walk the path he was always meant to. He must reclaim his health and his strength, for there were still many battles before him. To win them, he must be at his best.

Korv put the sword away and found the heaviest war hammer he could. With great effort, he picked it up off the ground…

  8. If the vikings from Asterix could eat a roast boar per person and keep in fighting trim, Korv should be fine. Just stay away from vegetables.
