My Name?

Daily writing prompt
What is your middle name? Does it carry any special meaning/significance?

My name is G.Q. Rilla. The “Q” stands for “Quit asking me stupid questions, you nosy bastards.”

If you persist in this line of questioning, I will have to refer you to one of my associates down at the docks.

Now, if you will excuse me, I am late for a meeting with BeyoncΓ©. I have an idea for a Polka album that I want to run by her.

And since I riffed off of the late, great Redd Foxx as Fred G. Sanford:

And don’t be a bitch come take it to the floor now πŸ˜‹

  1. They are getting increasingly nosy aren’t they? A week or two back I half-joked about the whole prompt system being set up to data mine users. When it gets THIS direct, I have to wonder if maybe I wasn’t correct yet again.

    1. Amy and I have been suspecting that for awhile. Like you, our half jokes became raised eyebrows. 🀨

      1. Well, I’m going to suggest what I did at the time in a comment reply to Shimmering Muse; we should start making up the most inane answers to the questions as possible, both as a creative writing exercise and to stick it to their data mining efforts.

      2. That’s kind of what I do with a lot of them now. I just treat them like a massive joke. Which they mostly are.
Ask me dumb or nosy shit, you get Redd Foxx, BeyoncΓ© and polka.

  2. You nailed it. The questions become more absurd and personal by the day. I think in the future, I’ll write sarcastic comedy features.

How about this one: when I was born, some mean alien, disguised as a good friend to my parents, discouraged them from giving me a middle name.

The nasty Alien then hypnotized my parents, took me (the infant) to this home planet, gave me a secret middle name, Klaatuu.

Whenever I hear this name I’ll carry out some secret mission for the Aliens. I belong to an elite group, the 100. Once we conclude our mission on earth, we’ll return to the Aliens home planet and live happily ever after. Forever.

Yeah Kevin, this is my take on this daily prompt.

      11. Urgh true, there’s always people disagreeing with everything. People hated this song too because BeyoncΓ© isn’t country or something dumb like that even though she’s literally from the South…

      12. Well, the “purists” are always going to bitch when someone genre hops. That’s almost a given. The reality is that she is also a black female, which country music is not exactly overflowing with either.

        Liked by 1 person

      13. Which is crazy because country music was incredibly influenced by black artists when it was first created. If it hadn’t been for black musicians country wouldn’t exist. I studied country music in university and it makes me so mad to what it’s become now.

      14. A lot of music was, really. Blues, early rock and roll, etc. Everything starts somewhere, but we often forget that.

      1. I’m just going to start keeping a tally. I think WordPress is angry with me because I make fun of their prompts. So they take people off my list. Unfortunately for them, they keep taking the same person off my list, so it’s super easy to figure out. Do better, WP πŸ˜‚
