Three Days, Three Posts

All in the freaking trash. What a waste of time. ๐Ÿ˜

Not a goddamn thing worth salvaging.

I am not one of those people who can sit down and do the act of writing without being inspired. I can’t trudge through it like a true author would. God knows I have tried, but that is just not my style.

Lately, I am lucky if I can come up with something mildly amusing for these stupid daily prompts, I swear.

Gotten nowhere on my spy story, nowhere on my barbarian adventures. Not even a measly fricking poem.

And I am just bitching to bitch, so don’t mind me. It keeps me from getting pissed off, deleting everything in a fit of agitation, and then throwing my monitor. ๐Ÿ˜„

To those of you who can trudge through the quagmire and produce something worthwhile, I tip my cap to you. Personally, I’d rather put my head through a concrete wall.

  4. I gave up on the daily posting stuff awhile back. I just phone it in with the daily prompt using minimal effort these days. I can’t come up with new material every day either, especially when I get into a funk.

    We all be struggling.

      1. I’m wearing yellow UV tinted glasses now. I hate it, but it’s necessary for me to write. I had to give my eyes a break because it sucked feeling like my eyes were burning. I just finally finished writing a story I started on a year ago. I need to start a new one, and I need to catch up on posts. I feel so far behind and all I want to do is goof off.

  5. Judging from the amount of replies thus far (TLDR, lol), I’d say we’re not the only ones in the boat you describe.โ€‚I know exactly how you feel though; I can’t write without inspiration either, and sometimes it’s quick to abandon me.

And I’ll go a step further and say I’d like to strangle these professional writers with their constant admonitions that writer’s block isn’t real and to just write.โ€‚Maybe it isn’t for them when they have the confidence of multiple best sellers and movie conversions under their belt.โ€‚For struggling beginners, it’s very real.

    1. Great point. When it’s your “job” maybe there is a bit more motivation, and comfort, if you have already gotten some healthy paychecks.

Those just starting out, and working 1-2 other jobs, probably don’t have the luxury of sitting down to grind it out for hours on end.

  6. For whatโ€™s its worth, I think be all feel this with way with some of these prompts. I do feel like my effort on some of these crops, sometimes is incomplete at best and half-assed at worst.

But thatโ€™s the great thing about Opposed to some of the other visual arts: it really is a process and it doesnโ€™t necessarily have to ever feel โ€œfinishedโ€

Besides, these prompt are just here to help trigger responses in us. If the prompt is half assed I think itโ€™s fair to assume that our responses will probably be half-assed as well.

I know that you know all of this already, but sometimes itโ€™s just nice to hear your thoughts being reflected back to you

    1. Morning, Rob. Indeed, it is always appreciated. Thank you. And that is a fair point. They get back what they give.

I think the frustrating thing for me is that it’s my own stuff I have hit roadblocks on. Not only can I not come up with anything, but I kinda don’t care either. And I don’t know which bothers me more.

Unfortunately, Iโ€™ve worked myself up to a point where Iโ€™ve been posting every day for the last six months, and I like seeing the likes, the comments, and my visitors / views go up. So now Iโ€™m hookedโ€ฆ

I donโ€™t think Iโ€™m a total hackโ€ฆyet. I still try to put more work and effort into the prompts that really inspire me. More than that, I also try to make a second, non-prompt-related post every day about whatever is on my mind.

        Liked by 1 person

      6. I totally get it, Rob. I have a nice streak going too, and I would like to keep it going. It’s nice to see the results of your work come to fruition, no doubt.

Hack? Please. A hack doesn’t post up a well researched article that he or she spent hours researching, including 10 open tabs when they are still writing.
You put the time and thought into your posts and it shows.

The prompts? They are what they are. Some deserve the treatment they get, imo. ๐Ÿ˜„
