My Teaching MVP

Daily writing prompt
Who was your most influential teacher? Why?

Oddly enough, I was discussing this very topic with Kymber Hawke yesterday in her comment section. Today, lo and behold, here we are. πŸ˜„

Anyhow, my pick would have to be my high school history teacher. He was a bit offbeat, funny as hell, and pretty damn smart. Most of all though, he truly cared about his students. He was the teacher that everyone came back to visit at least a couple times after graduation.

He would also occasionally pin an “S” to his shirt and ride a cart across the classroom. Like I said, a little offbeat.

But, when it was time to get tough, he would be tough, and he always tried his best to help his students succeed. He was a top notch guy and is probably one of the main reasons I love history as much as I do.

The only other teacher that might have been more influential is that little thing called “experience”.

  2. Awesome, πŸ‘ πŸ‘ 😎 you and I had very opposite history teachers lol. Mine called me smart but lazy because I didn’t study for his dumb boring test, he was a complete tool. I ended up leaving his class and switching into something else, thankfully.
I still love history though, so that’s a bonus, not because of him however πŸ˜‚

    1. My teacher was like none I had had before or since. There were other good ones, but none quite like him.
At least you still like history despite him. lol

      1. He sounds super cool. I would’ve loved to have had a teacher like that. On a whole, most of my high school teachers sucked, haha.
Yep, history is actually one of my favs, surprisingly. Happy about that, lol.

      2. Yeah, I definitely got lucky landing in his class.

Personally, I think history is one of the few interesting school subjects, but that’s just me lol

  3. I can’t remember much, but I remember hating school. The teachers weren’t all that pleasant either. Glad my son is having a better time.

Got the key word from your experience… ie… ” But, when it was time to get tough, he would be tough,”

    1. He could be tough, but he was fair. If he got tough, you had it coming for sure.

  5. Your teacher sounds amazing. It’s the extra special teachers that make their students feel cared about and safe in their presence…then real learning can happen and that’s a kind of magic, too. Loved this, Kevin. SO good.

  8. I liked my history teacher her, because he was very theatrical and made everything into a fu historical play. But the one that changed my career, was my math teacher.
He showed me that this what I was (more or less) good at.
Also,we would play chess afterschool hours which was a passion in my youth.

So he, but mainly his style of teaching might have been my biggest inspiration πŸ™‚
