Iron G in the House

So, as I said earlier today, I was going to try another of my incredibly stupid, “why would anyone willingly do that?” workout experiments.

Due to my current work environment, the need to be able to move easily under high heat, high stress conditions with a modicum of strength is paramount. I am not in terrible shape by any means, but this requires a bit more than what I currently have. I think it’s more akin to what I had to do in the service. Be ready to react at any time with decent reflexes and energy.

I woke around 0615 today and had a coffee while I loosened up and listened to some music. I did some light stretching and then started doing arm and shoulder exercises with 45 lbs. worth of resistance bands. I did not really count sets or reps, going mostly by feel, but most were in the 25 rep range.

The following were the remainder of the exercises I performed at various stages through the morning, ending around 1115 this morning. Please note these were not done consecutively. There were multiple sessions of 10-15 minutes with some lengthy breaks in between. This was a bit of a marathon with some sprints in mixed in mentality.

Planks: 2 sets for about 90 seconds each. Clearly, these need work.

Crunches: 1 set of 50

Leg kicks (aka: recon flutter kicks): 3 sets of 30.

Pull-ups: 1 set of 10. Used to be able to do a lot more. Need to increase.

Push ups: Multiple sets of 25 – 50 interspersed throughout the morning.

Triceps extensions w/resistance bands: Multiple sets of 20 throughout morning.

Barbell curls with 35 lb. thick bar: Multiple sets of 15 throughout the morning, some done reverse curl style.

Torso twists and good mornings with 35 lb. thick bar: 3 sets of 20.

Overhead barbell toss with 35 lb. thick bar: AMRAP at random intervals.

Dumbbell rows with 100 lb. thick handle db: 1 set 6 reps.

Fueled by:

Five cups of espresso

Creatine

Fish oil

Van Halen

Led Zeppelin

Skid Row

Rage and Ego

Note that the majority of this workout experiment was performed with very light weights. The goal, of course, is to increase weight and resistance when I do them. I am planning another for tomorrow, but I am treading very gently.

The plan, when time allows, is to do one of these workouts once a week. It’s like a stupid take on a circuit training workout.

The work is a big part of it, but there is a matter of personal pride involved as well. This is kind of my “fuck you” to sloth and laziness, and just to prove to myself that I can do it.

Anyhow, I know I am going to feel like absolute hell tomorrow, but I don’t care. Step one is complete and I’ll plant my flag there for today. As it is, I can barely hold my phone or type right now, but whatever. 🤣

Stay strong y’all. 💪

    1. Honestly? Can’t go wrong with a good steak lol

Supplement wise, though, I actually like Cell Tech and Concrete (Or Concret, I think it;s spelled). Now Nutritionals also makes good stuff and they are cheap. Last I knew, any of them could be found on Amazon still.
