The world that is I leave behind

I wish to seek my peace of mind

I agonized to stay or go

How I struggled you don’t know

The wounds upon me left a mark

Alone and grasping in the dark

I’ve been cut deeply to the bone

My time has come to be alone

Within me nothing I can feel

This hollowness is all too real

My time has come to say goodbye

A mist is forming in my eye

I know now I have reached the end

This broken will I leave to mend

This image made me think of it, so I decided to complete it. There was an additional note with the original draft, which I have chosen not to publish at this time.

      Thank you, Chris. This means a great deal to me and I am depply humbled. I had contemplated it for a spell, and this poem was to have been part of a brief farewell and thank you to everyone for their friendship and support. I posted it now as a testament to the gamut if human emotions we are often subject to. 🙏
