Take a wild guess

Daily writing prompt
What was the last live performance you saw?

If anyone needs more than one guess to figure this one out, well…clearly you have not been paying attention. 😆

Yes indeed, it was Van Halen on their 2015 tour, which sadly, turned out to be their last.

It was a beautiful night out, and they sounded great. And thanks to Wolfgang Van Halen picking out the set list, I finally got to hear “Drop Dead Legs” live.

Before Eddie passed, there had been talk of a stadium tour with everyone from all eras performing. Unfortunately, that never came to pass, as Eddie’s health continued to decline before his untimely passing in 2020.

I’m grateful that I got to see them that final time, and I’ll remember it always.

RIP, Eddie. Still missing ya.

  1. Ugh, it totally blows when you know your favorite band is never gonna tour ever again 😢

      1. Yeah… like $500 a ticket! Come on, ughh. Had one of those recently.

      2. OMG! It’s cheaper for me to rent the recorded concert, turn on the surround sound and go! 😂

      4. Plus No annoying people, no lines for the facilities and all the drinks I want. 😂 I just have to put up with Patrick and the cats 🐈‍⬛ 🐈‍⬛😂

      5. God, don’t get me started on the drink prices at shows lol 😂 or the nasty as hell bathrooms
Annoying people…yeah that’s another factor too. Getting thrashed around in a mosh pit, I’m good! lol 😆

      1. Do you wear earplugs at concerts like this? (To protect your hearing)

      2. Hi, Mary. No, I don’t. I kmow it would probably be the wiser option, but when I was younger no one really promoted the idea and now, I mainly attend shows at outdoor venues when I go at all. The noise is nowhere near as harsh in those conditions.
This summer will be the first shows I’ve gone to in 9 years and one is an amphitheater and the other is a stadium.

      3. Gotcha! I remember my ears ringing for days after some of the shows I went to when I was young. Now I’ve got some actual hearing loss. 😑

      4. I had more than a few of those shows as well. The one thing that might have kept my hearing intact is the fact that most of the jobs I’ve worked in my life required ear protection because I was around heavy machinery. So a lot of the time I actually had ear protection in to some degree or another on an almost daily basis.

      5. That’s good! If/when you do lose some hearing, be sure to check with the VA. My father is now getting a very generous “disabled veteran” monthly payment for his hearing loss, even though he served for 4 years in the 1950s.
That’s all my unsolicited mom advice for today! 😀

      6. Thanks, I;ll keep that in mind.
In an ironic twist, I had a hearing test done late last year, and it was better than all my previous ones combined. Go figure that one out.

      8. I would say it’s highly unlikely that that was the actual result, but it’s the same company that has tested them for the past 10 years, right down to the same tech. 🤷‍♂️

    1. The only show I saw that was somewhat shaky was 2004 when Eddie was in really rough shape. Luckily, we caught him on a pretty good night, because a lot of stops on that tour were not.
