Reader and Notifications – WTF?

Man, I’m already in a lousy mood today from lack of sleep and now, I log back in to see yet more surprises with Reader and Notifications.

Reader is suddenly slow AF. I mean like snail caught in molasses slow. And no, I am not having trouble with any other pages.

Me waiting for Reader to friggen load.

And seriously…Could we find a more non-intuitive place to put the notification icon? This is the second time it’s been relocated in the past couple weeks. And yes, I thought that location sucked too.

Wondering why the hell the notification icon was moved yet again.

Meanwhile, I am beyond thrilled to say that I am still getting randomly unsubscribed from people’s pages, and no, the pingbacks still aren’t working either. 🙄

Debating a rage quit.

I’m sure this is the last random idiotic issue that will crop up, right? 😊

    Since moving to a country that I do not culturally understand I have learned extreme patience (and I was pretty chilled to begin with). Things are only frustrating if you decide to let them be.

    Having said that, I want to smash things badly every time I’m forced to use a Windows computer!

    What is with the notifications the last couple of months. They moved the tiny tiny icon to a place no one looks so that they actually have to put up a hint box to show you where they moved it. I’ve complained about the bizarre functioning of notifications several times. I complained on one the WP broadcast emails and did get a reply. I think they have designers who like to torment users. My biggest rant is about the notifications moving while you are typing a reply and your reply box jumps back into the notifications list, if that makes sense.

      Yes! I know exactly what you’re talking about. That happens to me as well.
      The notification icon was fine where it originally was. Then they moved it to the opposite side of the screen and now the most out of the way spot imaginable.
      And Reader is absolute trash tonight. It’s ridiculous how slowly it’s loading and updating.

        Luckily mine is loading, at the moment. But I have been wondering recently why I was no longer subscribed to some blogs and wasn’t seeing the posts. I see I am not the only one. ☹☹

    I am in a situation the last two days where when I am on the Reader page and I click on the notifications icon the notification drop down that appears does not disappear when I click back on it.
    It also doesn’t allow me to click on those notifications individually. Instead of the notification, it’s the post on the Reader that appears underneath that ot takes me to.
    I have to refresh my page to remove the notification drop down and to view individually those notifications, instead I have to go to my stats page, as the notice bell works there ok. Unlike Reader.
    If it’s same today, than it will be 3 days not working right on Reader page.

      It did that to me earlier as well. I had to go to my dashboard to like and reply comments. I forgot about that little snafu!
      Today was the first day I had that pleasure. 🙄

        I am still finding same issue so 3 days like it now.
        Like some things they feel the need to fix that didn’t fixing to then break it, they are wasting their time doing nothing.

        That’s another thing – why is it one style (the old one) of notifications everywhere else, but Reader has to be different. What is the freaking point of that?

    I’ve noticed that too with the reader. It’s been slow and buggy as hell for months. No wonder all our stats are going down the crapper 😂.

    I guess I’m lucky using the Jetpack app, I don’t seem to have these issues. But I’ve got to go on the laptop this weekend and update some things I can’t do on the app. 😊
