Stand Tall, Stand Alone

Standing tall, I stand alone

Too many times cut to the bone

Too quick to trust, mistake I made

Deep in my back, a shiny blade

Was left for dead too many times

I paid for all your petty crimes

In no one I can trust but me

Within this knowledge I am free

From here on in alone I’ll stay

Forever ’til my dying day

Unshackled from the chains that bind

A weight is lifted from my mind

If we ever meet upon the road

I will not shoulder heavy load

You pass your way and I’ll pass mine

No longer will I cross that line

No longer will I ever trust

For my survival, this I must

My heart will never have a home

‘Til the end of days I’ll walk alone

    1. Thank you, Mary. I am actually quite blessed in that regard. But sometimes words just ask to be written. πŸ™
