Dark Reflection (Musings From Another Plane)

You confound me

You confuse me

With your

Wicked, wicked games

You speak to me

Of places

You speak to me

Of names

You speak of

Dark horizons

Far beyond

My vision’s reach

You speak to me

Of lessons

Lessons

Others dare not teach

I do not understand you

I question

If I ever will

While you

Fill my mind with anger

Deep within

I feel a thrill

Duality demented

Reflection same

But clearly not

One thousand poison arrows

Into my psyche

Have been shot

I see a flash of

Crimson

Somewhere

In a darkened wood

Though I am compelled

To chase it

Though I question

If I should

Will I find the answers?

Or more

Questions

Will arise?

Will I part

The Veil of Truth

Or The Veil of Darkened Lies?

The only way to know

Is to accept

The challenge lain

As I see the dark reflection

Staring from another plane

ยฉThe Beginning At Last

  1. And there you have it. Brought me back through many years when in my early days I went through a very dark period in my life. Sort of like wishing to be Morticia from the Addams Family and longing for more rainy days than sunny. It was then I looked reflectively into a mirror and way back I saw a face I recognized someone dear from my past who was gone from life and then I realized no matter how many dark days might come there is one truth – they are with us always and there to watch over us.

    1. Indeed, I default to the dark side myself sometimes. It’s tough not to. But yes, there are always ones who care watching over us and giving strength when we need it. ๐Ÿ™

      1. That actually was going to be my comment ~ if you feel the need to go there, pause to ensure the solidity of your protection first.

      2. Wise advice. It’s easy to spiral down that hole if one is not careful.

  6. Unfortunately, we need to be a bit vulnerable to find our happiness. Really good poem, Kevin.
