Songbird

Songbird in the darkened night

A dream long held has taken flight

Up on the stage, she feels so free

Her truth is clear for all to see

The passion, drive, the sacrifice

The lonely and the sleepless nights

Her vision was forever clear

All her life she dreamed…to stand right here

ยฉThe Beginning At Last

  2. Wow! This kind of makes me feel sad for her and happy for her all at the same time. It’s sad, sometimes, how much humans have to sacrifice to go for their dreams. Great post! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘

    1. I think that is the universe’s way of seeing how much we really want it.
      Thank you, Kay. Greatly appreciated.

Sometimes other commenters say what I would like to better than I can. Yes, an empowering yet bittersweet sentiment.

    1. Without struggle there can be no victory. Or something like that, they say.

  6. You’ve seen the person behind the performer. A lot of people never do. As a performer myself, in audiences I’ve practically held my breath a time or two, wondering whether some musician was actually going to get through the gig and make it off the stage standing up. In both cases I looked around to find myself surrounded by happy fans perfectly oblivious of their “beloved” star’s condition. It made me feel much better about never having been healthy enough to give a musical career a go.

    1. It definitely takes a lot to get up there and put on a performance, even when you might not feel like it. I did it a whole one time, and while it was fun, it was stressful to be sure. Not wanting to blow it was the first and last thing on my mind.
Doing that on the regular I can imagine taking some incredible willpower. I’m sure there are several days where they don’t want to “go to work” either.

      1. I think that’s where the drugs must come in. The rest of us may not want to go to work, but at least we’re not required to act ecstatically inspiring for the camera!

      2. Most likely, yes. Needing to be “on” all the time has to be draining
