On This First Fall Day

On this first Fall day, I would like to take a moment to reflect and celebrate the coming of the Autumn.

As I stated in this post a couple weeks back, I do not see Autumn as an end, but as a beginning.

The full, vibrant colors. The crisp, clean air. The scents and sounds of falling leaves. The feeling of quiet calm that comes upon the world around me. All these things give the Autumn a magical, spiritual feel.

As most are well aware, many celebrate the Fall as part of their spiritual or religious pursuits. While I do not participate in organized rituals, or practice any real religion per se, I do have my own relationship with this world and the energies all around it. What each chooses to call that is their own prerogative.

What I am here to do today is remind you that while Summer is gone for the moment, the Autumn beckons you with adventures and magic all it’s own.

The world around you is changing as we speak. The temperatures are changing, the colors are shifting almost imperceptibly and many already dread the coming of Winter. While there is no need to fear the coming Winter, we are here to speak of today.

Many lament the need to start dressing in layers due to cooler days and nights. But do not think of that hoodie as merely a layer of clothing; think of it as your adventurer’s cloak or your mage’s coat. You are donning it as you embark on your latest adventure. Perhaps you are off to discover the secrets of enchanted woods, or commune with your Higher Power in a serene, calm setting. Test your fitness for the battles ahead with a refreshing sojourn and come back alive and inspired.

Many bemoan that they will miss the simple pleasures of a Summertime cookout. But why? Is your grill or smoker broken? Does it only work between the months of May and September?

Think of it not as a grill, but perhaps as the campfire where you roast the meals that nourish you, keep you strong and fill you with warmth and contentment. All the better if you share this time with the company of fine friends or loved ones.

My friends, I urge you not to mourn the passing of the Summer. I urge you instead to embrace the opportunity to discover the secrets of this magical time of year. The world around you is not dying. It is being reborn in a different way.

The soft winds of adventure are quietly whispering your name. Will you heed the call and stake your claim? Or will you hide in your cabin darning socks while you dream of “better” days?

Answer the call.

Be well, my friends.

  8. Nice colours are in the autumn that will bring to your, and many more (maybe even mine!πŸ˜„), blog site. Hope that those colours will bring us all what really matters: peace, love and life. Put them three in the order you wish. I will put all at the same level, as all are same important to me.

Blessed life to you and your relatives and friends, Kevin. Glad this break was just short, and hope I keep reading you for many more days, weeks, months and, of course, years!!

    All the best, mi amigo!☺️

  9. Very nice, Kevin, and a great capture of Autumn. When I put on a hoodie, I’ll think of it as an adventurers cloak, too. I’m looking forward to the chill in the air sitting in front of a fire beneath the stars. πŸ€—πŸ‚

Such a calming post. I love Autumn and would love to experience it this year. We’ll see what the gods allow. There’ve been some encouragingly cooler evenings, nice for wandering around. πŸ™‚

At least until the weather changes, probably closer to mid-October for our first burst of occasional cooler temps, I’ll be relying on photos!
