Calling or texting?

Text. Ironically, I will talk on the phone forever, but I actually dread it anytime a phone rings. I’ve always hated it since I was a kid. Maybe someone beat me with a ringing phone or something, I don’t know. ๐Ÿ˜„

Of course, it doesn’t help that as I’ve gotten older, the percentage of good calls is much less. Probably too many years as a manager and answering phone calls where I either got my ass chewed or had to listen to absolute stupidity.

Fancy dinner or takeout and a movie?

Oh, fancy dinner. I love to eat out and would do it every day if I could. It doesn’t even have to be fancy, per se. Just going out to dinner, period. That said, I rarely do it because it’s just not feasible. Hoping to get together with some former work chums soon actually, so we’ll see if that pans out.

Acknowledgement or anonymity?

Both. If that makes any sense whatsoever. ๐Ÿ˜„

Acknowledgement is nice, but then I hit a point where I feel kind of weird, and then find I am usually much happier recognizing others.

I’ve also known the highs and lows of both, so my relationship with that topic is very complex. I guess when I want to be recognized, I want to be, and when I don’t, I prefer to skulk in the shadows.

Sorry, but that’s the best I have for that one! Have a great day, folks!

Hahaha. None of us are one thing or totally consistent. It’s always a matter of the context of what’s happening.

Yes, of course it makes sense. Some things you want to be recognized forโ€ฆothers, you want to blend into the background. โ€œIt dependsโ€ for a lot.

Hmmm, as you like to say, โ€œdiesel engineโ€ for the phone? ๐Ÿ˜†

Soโ€ฆfancy dinner once a year? lol

I have long associated the phone with bad news and it gives me like a mini anxiety thing. I know, it’s weird ๐Ÿ˜„
Fancy dinners? Every night if I had my way ๐Ÿ˜‰
Glad you like it. Hope you actually like red wine LOL
It really does, depend, yes. It’s complex to say the least.

Cool. I’m not a huge fan of it. I drift towards bourbon myself. But of its put in front of I’ll drink it ๐Ÿ˜†

I’ll refrain from my bad pun, but yes, it’s a thing for me lol

  3. Your pictures are great. I always smile when I come to your blog.

My phone calls’ quality has taken a nose dive, too. Did I say that right? LOL It’s early.

I think fancy dinners are fun and I hope you get to see your friends soon. Sounds like fun.

I’m there with you on that.

Thank you so much for playing! Happy Friday!

Yes, I am very weird with the phone. I often associate it with bad news. It’s just a feeling that I’ve never truly shaken.
I’m hoping we can all pull it together. We have a bad habit of dropping the ball at the last minute and cancelling the plans, so fingers crossed LOL
      Happy Friday to you too!

  4. The better I get at my job, the more I dread the phone calls, so I share your feeling in this. I have to post a poem on this some time.

  5. Ironically, I will talk on the phone forever, but I actually dread it anytime a phone rings. Haha. This feels too relatable. Texting is mostly my way preferred way of communicating these days except for some very select people. I feel that with texting, the other people can respond whenever they’re free. There’s less pressure to fill awkward silences during the call!

    1. Glad you get it too, Shweta. I feel slightly less weird now ๐Ÿ˜†
It depends who I’m taking to. If it’s someone I’m not a fan of it’s usually short and sweet and then I gtfo lol

      1. I wonder if it’ll ever turn less weird for me. But then again, I don’t call people who will push me into that territory. Yes, it all comes down to who’s on the other end. With some, the silence can be comforting too. It’s just a pause before the next conversation. If it’s someone I’m not a fan of, my conversation will be short and to the point and then gtfo indeed. I can be a total introvert and an extrovert too..it all depends on the other person. Lol ๐Ÿ˜†

      2. It’s nice when one can have a conversation where a few moments silence is not awkward. It’s rare, but it is indeed nice and comforting.
trust me, I only feel slightly less weird because someone else gets it. Not less weird about the phone thing itself LOL

Totally makes sense to want both anonymity and acknowledgment. I want credit, but also prefer to stay behind the scenes.

  7. I like acknowledgement to a certain point. If I and my team work hard to get things done in a certain time frame, we like to hear at least a thank you or nice job. It boosts moral. If a lot of time passes without any acknowledgement, my team becomes frustrated and feels unappreciated.
