“A bit of both” might be a bit of a misnomer.
It would be more accurate to say that I am a night person who wants to be a morning person.
Most of my working life has been spent on either 2nd or 3rd Shift hours.

For a lot of years that worked out just fine.
These days? Not so much.
I can still do the night shift hours, mind you. I have just a hit a point where I don’t want to anymore.
Is it age? Shifting priorities? The tiresome feeling of constantly being one of the “forgotten people”? The constant planning, maneuvering and shuffling just to have a simple dinner with friends? The feeling of perpetual tiredness?
A bit of all those things, really.

Life of the party right here.
So, why keep doing it?
Opportunities.
Frankly, the majority of good opportunities I have been offered revolved around night work.
No one wants to do it, so oftentimes, the offers to accept these positions are quite favorable.
I could quite easily have a daytime job within a week, but the cut in pay that comes with a lot of them can be fairly drastic. While a small loss may be acceptable for the potential gains, when weighed out, too large a one is simply not worth it to me at this time.

Them groceries ain’t cheap, kids!
And to those who say “I prefer to be forgotten and hidden on the night shift,” I say that the night shifts come with their own special brand of b.s., so let’s not pretend it’s a cakewalk either, ok? ๐
Just like anything else, it has it’s pros and cons.
“Forgotten” is fine sometimes, but it gets tiresome when you’re the last to know everything, especially the truly important stuff.
Those are the times you come off looking like a total dummy who can’t get with the program, even though it’s no fault of your own.

No one told me about THAT.
For now, I bide my time as a nightwalker.
But I am always watching and waiting for that opportunity to jump into the realm of the daywalkers.
I’ll get there in time, but for now, I gotta get to bed. Work tonight and all that. ๐
Have a great one, folks!
