I had intentions of using this image to write a poem about my grandfather.
Unfortunately, words have been failing me these days.
I tossed around words, phrases, ideas.
Nothing.
Nada.
Zip.
I know I am far from the only one to have encountered this. I am sure it’s far more common than I even dare speculate.
The words, ladies and gentlemen, are just plain not there right now. I’m okay with that. It happens, I suppose.
It doesn’t help that this stretch leading up to the holiday is a bit hectic at work. I picked up some extra shifts, so I am in the middle of a run before a bit of time off.
Ironic that at this time last year I had a ton of time on my hands, and now it’s the exact opposite. 😄

Funny how much life can change from one day/week/month to the next. One minute it’s Autumn and the leaves are falling, the next, you’re skating across the parking lot. Blink of an eye.

In closing, in lieu of a poem, I will just say about my grandfather that he was one of the toughest, hardest working, finest men I ever knew.
He was a plainspoken, simple man. Perhaps the above is exactly his style.
Been a long time he’s been gone, but the shadow he cast was a long one indeed.
I was lucky to have him in my life.
Peace out, folks. Be good to each other. 💪
