12/20/24: So, it would seem I have finally hit that wall. I am unable to answer any of the upcoming daily prompts as far out as I can see.
To that end, I figured I would repost my reply from last year, and funnily enough, my answer is still the same. A couple weeks back I got together with the same group of guys, but this time we mixed it up and went for German food. π
Also funnily enough, there was still one of us unemployed sitting at the table. Last year, it was me. This year, it is one of my friends who got laid off a month or two back.

German food also rocks. My drink of choice, however, is usually a whiskey sour.
Below are my thoughts on this topic last year. By and large, they remain unchanged. Good friends make bad times a lot easier.
2023:
The last thing I did for for fun was get together with a few friends for dinner at a local Indian restaurant.
Matter of fact, I am meeting with them there again tonight.
Since losing my job I find the need to maintain connections is more vital than ever. It’s tempting to go into isolation after experiencing a setback, but ultimately, I feel that keeping in contact with friends is much more beneficial.
There’s a time and a place for monk mode, but there’s also a time and place for interaction.
Whether it be a phone call, texting or a meetup, I’ve found that my friends have been a huge support system while I navigate this latest challenge, and I am extremely grateful to each and every one of them.
And besides, Indian food just plain rocks.
2024 Edit: German food does too!
