There Can Be Only One (Or Two…)

Daily writing prompt
What’s your favorite candy?

If I was forced to choose only one candy, then it would very likely be Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

Caveat: I much prefer the big cup, trees or eggs, etc. Way more PB than the chintzy regular ones these days!

If only they still made them like they did back in the day. Damned Shrinkflation.

Now, since it’s my blog and my rules, I am also going to list my very close runner up, which would be M&Ms. Peanut is the default, but really, mixing peanut and plain is the way to go. And apparently, the geniuses at M&M Mars agreed with me and started selling them in mixed bags somewhere along the line.

I’ll just mix them myself, damn it. Probably cheaper anyhow.

Now, honorable mention time here.

Since most people call it liquid candy anyhow, I am going to list good old Coca-Cola. Yes, yes, I know it’s terrible for me, but I do like it I must admit. That said, I have tried over time to limit my consumption, but I will say it is quite difficult. And not for nothing, but it goes damned well with a slice of pizza! I can’t do pizza and beer, so that is my go to instead.

As we used to say in The Corps, “Have a Coke and a smile and shut the F up.” ๐Ÿ˜„

Goes great with pizza too!

So, there we go. My top picks for when you want to indulge your sweet tooth and add an inch or two to the old waistline! ๐Ÿ˜„

Have a great day, folks!

  1. It’s rare me having fizzy drinks stuff and has been for years. And when I was going through a bad eating phase of sweet stuff. It was only food and not drink.
If I pick up a fizzy drink, it varies. But if it’s a coke, I have mostly picked up pepsi over cola. But it doesn’t mean I don’t like cola. And if I go cola. Whichever brand, I will have the cherry.
And yes, a fizzy drink and pizza seem to go well together.
MM’s I loved when I would eat chocolate containing milk. But with being dairy-free, they are off my list for a long time now. But I do have a dairy-free option available to these.

    1. Pepsi is ok for me, but it’s a bit sweeter than I actually prefer. Coke just has that little bit of…tang, I guess, that I like lol
Are the dairy free alternatives actually any good? I have heard mixed reviews on a lot of that type of stuff.

      1. I have different favourites when it comes to dairy-free. Some more than others. But the MM equivalent chocolate I like.

        Dairy-free ice cream, I love.

And I have my favourite when it comes to dairy-free cheese after being hot and miss.

      2. I haven’t tried dairy free ice cream, and I’ll be honest, the cheese kinda scares me! ๐Ÿ˜„
I have heard a lot of not so great things about it. lol

      3. I have never heard of negativity when I went dairy-free and a majority has been good for me. I have lost count how many years I have been dairy-free. ๐Ÿ˜Š

      5. The first time when I tried years ago for 6 months, I partly did it. – Going dairy-free when it came to milk, yogurts and butter. And I think I went dairy-free on cheese. But can’t remember. It was a test to see if it would help me when it came to reducing phlegm when I had colds etc or asthma flare ups. I then went back to eating normal and I noticed I was better in reducing dairy.
After a time where I was coughing for a couple of months day and night, that towards the end I coughed up blood, that was it. I knew I was going dairy-free completely and I have been better off for it.
When I have had the odd bad cough, or asthma flare-up before being on the inhaler I am on, I found I was better being dairy-free. It helped to reduce my phlegm alot at those troublesome times.

Accidentally, I have had dairy in things where I hadn’t read properly. Or rare times when I ignored my dairy-free rule. And my body didn’t thank me for it.

  2. Shrinkflation. a fantastic word to use. It’s sad to think a 25 cent candy bar in my youth was bigger than the two dollar ones they sell today. Myself I like the white chocolate Reese’s.

I like the honorable mention of pizza as we all know that is truly a favorite treat over in the Mayor’s Office, and Coke has always been my downfall.

    1. It’s downright disgraceful how much we pay for so little now.
Those white chocolate ones are good too, agreed!

I can’t not mention pizza. It’s basically part of my DNA at this point in time. ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„
Very few things can beat a frosty cols Coke on a hot day. Even an ice cold beer might come in second for me at this point in time. lol

  5. Love your selection of candy, even though I’ve never tasted Reese’s. I absolutely love that the AI generated images you have actually show all the official brands. That usually never works. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Never tasted a Reese’s? ๐Ÿ˜ฒ
That should be a felony in most countries! ๐Ÿ˜„
Unless of course it’s an allergy, in which case, totally understandable.
I usually have good luck getting it to show brands. I am sure they love the free advertisement ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„

      1. ๐Ÿ˜‚ really? They’re that tasty? I don’t think I’m allergic to peanuts, even though I rarely eat something with peanut butter etc. I think you can buy them where I live, but only in like speciality shops where everything is super expensive.

        Liked by 1 person

      2. If you were allergic, you would probably know by now, since a lot of foods are processed in facilities that also process/use peanut products. A lot of folks I know with the allergy have to be very, very cautious!
I think it’s a fine, fine combo, but I could be slightly biased LOL

      3. Yeah, I’d probably know and nothing yet. I’m just not a huge fan of nuts, really. I eat them but I don’t gobble them down like some people do. If I ever find Reese’s in my country I shall try them at least.

      4. I certainly recommend that you do! lol

I tried keto PB cups one time and they totally sucked! ๐Ÿ˜„

      Liked by 1 person

      1. ๐Ÿ˜‚ they can both suck and be delicious, like with everything else. So far I don’t miss anything really when it comes to processed and tasty garbage ๐Ÿ˜. I do find it mysterious that a lot of amazing food that easily can be veganized without any downsides are still filled with eggs and/or dairy.

Big fan of vanilla coke, but can’t find it easily so default to the classic, not too often so it remains a treat. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Funny enough, I just saw a lady buy three 12 packs of the vanilla one at the market. Not a fan, myself. If I deviate from classic, it’s with a cherry one. lol

That’s kind of the problem. I never want a whole 12 pack and don’t trust myself to have it at home! So the only way i drink it is to find it solo. ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Well, up here in Canada, the concept of ‘candy’ and ‘chocolate bars’ are separated, so I can state my answer for both separately. ๐Ÿ˜œ I’m not a big candy person, but my favourite are Rockets (known as Smarties in the USA – our Smarties are very similar to M&Ms). As for chocolate, I love me a square of 85% Lindt dark chocolate, but that’s not a candy-ish chocolate bar, and for that I have to go with Coffee Crisp (despite not drinking normal coffee – it’s too bitter of a taste for me to enjoy – I’ve learned how to order a PSL or similar drinks from Starbucks so that I enjoy them though: with half the amount of espresso – and no, a normal amount but decaf is NOT what I’m asking for).

    1. Sounds like you’re using a technicality there, Nicole. ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„
Some of those dark chocolates can be strong as heck!
I try to never order anything from Starbucks if I can help it. ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„
I like Starbucks coffee, but I don’t like getting it from a Starbucks. LOL!

      1. Well, I think I only went to one once in 2024. There isn’t one in my town, and I don’t drive 30 minutes or more to another town just for an expensive drink.

        Liked by 1 person

      2. I will buy it at the market (on sale! lol) and brew it at home, but I find that getting it from an actual Starbucks location it always tastes burnt, is way too expensive, and they’re sometimes kinda snooty. Not too many redeeming qualities there ๐Ÿ˜„

My Daughter is taking me on a cruise this summer and I just found out that the cruise ship doesn’t have Coke … just Pepsi products.

she thought I was joking, but I’m almost half serious…she might as well cancel that damn cruise. I gotta bring my own soda AND buy a drink card? Somebody robbing me!!!!
