I Call It Fate

As I look back

Upon my life

It cuts me deep

Just like a knife

Decisions

Like incisions

The blood I gave

The blood I’ve lost

And never was it

Worth the cost

A drink in hand

Taste of lament

I wonder where

My spirit went

It seems I lost it

Long ago

It never had

The chance to grow

I sit here now

And it’s too late

No light within

I call it fate

    1. Thank you, Sharon. Sometimes the words just come out that way even if my mood does not match them. Who am I to argue with the energies of creativity?

I know how that can be ๐Ÿ™‚ Iโ€™ve had to explain inspiration to people a few times ๐Ÿ™‚ so they didnโ€™t worry about me

      2. I understand the instinct, and a lot of times it may be written from the mood it captures, but once in awhile, something comes from the polar opposite end and we probably don’t even know why ourselves lol

While growling to the pack might seem right it might be a better time to quietly bark with a closer friend revealing the truth of acknowledging unknown fate. […]

  14. You know you are a good writer, Kevin, an excellent poet. I hope this is not your story. It is too sad for me to think you feel like this. I know we all do at some points, but hopefully, you do not now.

    1. Thank you very much, Mary. Ironically, the words do not reflect my mood at the time I wrote it. They just came to me, and I felt they should be captured raw and “as is”. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

      2. Thank you very much, Mary. I genuinely appreciate the fine compliment.

I have definitely felt this way many times before, but oddly, these words came to me when I was in quite a contented mood. Inspiration strikes when it chooses, I guess.
