Van Haulin’

So, I don’t have much interesting to post today (still putting my pic post together), and this probably isn’t that exciting to most of you, but it is to me. πŸ˜€

I went to get the mail the other day, and something I had been waiting for finally arrived:

It’s a remaster of Van Halen’s For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge album on vinyl, but here’s the kicker…

I don’t own a turntable.

So, why the hell did I buy it, you ask?

Because along with the album is a limited edition remastered 2-CD set that includes the remastered album, plus a live performance from the West End Marketplace in Dallas, TX from 1991 that was previously unavailable officially.

I may or may not have had a copy of this prior, but to have it officially released is downright awesome.

The set also includes a blu-ray of the Dallas show, and HD remasters of the videos released to promote the album.

I have not unboxed it yet. I am waiting until I am off work and can truly enjoy it.

The t-shirt I got just because I thought it was cool. πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜„

It’s an EVH “78” t-shirt, which features Eddie’s iconic Frankenstein in it’s 1978 configuration and paint job on the back, commemorating the debut of VH’s landmark first album.

Also, fittingly, this post airs on 3/16, which also happens to be Wolfgang Van Halen’s birthday. Happy Birthday, Wolf! 🀘😎🀘

The following instrumental was written by Eddie for his beloved son.

So, that’s all I got for today. I hope everyone has a great Sunday. Personally, I am off to bed!

      1. We have both CDs and LPs. I don’t think anything delivers the authentic feel of music and the total enjoyment like vinyl …. or shellac, depending on how old your albums are. I have my Dad’s old stereo and some of my his Caruso LPs on shellac, 78 rpm. What a great sound that is! 🎢😎

      2. OMG, that’s too funny. My grandmother used to have a ton of Caruso on 78 too πŸ˜„
I had a turntable years ago, but it finally went to the grave and I never replaced it. I was all in on cassette and CD by that point lol

      3. What? No 8-tracks? 🀣

That is funny about your grandmother! Was she Italian and/or an opera lover?

      4. French, actually. She had a varied musical palate, much like me. Or, me like her, I guess lol
She liked opera, classical, big band and country mostly.
My first car actually had an 8-track player and in the console there were Beach Boys and Frampton Comes Alive tapes πŸ˜„

      5. Nice! As you’ve already figured out, I also enjoy a wide and diverse selection of music; there’s really only two genres (that I know of) that I don’t like – rap and shit-kickin’ country a la Hee Haw.

      6. She wasn’t into the real deep woods hillbilly country either. She liked Chet Atkins, Charlie Rich, Charley Pride, Ronnie Milsap, etc.

      7. That’s about as deep woods as I’ll go without my varmint tick spray! πŸ˜‚

  2. My brain almost read Unlawful Carnal Kink which wouldn’t be off base tbh since that album is a panty dropper.
