All Retro, All Day

Because everything needs an intro. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Good day, and Happy Saturday, y’all!

I’ve been slightly under the radar after getting exposed to some stuff on the job that kinda messed me up for a spell. I’m feeling better, but recovery has been slowed by the constantly shifting weather.

70 degrees during the day, and then snow/rain mix overnight, 50 degrees with high winds, etc.

When you’re having respiratory and throat issues, those kind of extremes don’t seem to help matters.

Yesterday I went down an 80s rabbit hole, and I am still there as I type this. To be fair, I am usually there a lot anyhow. ๐Ÿ˜„

In that spirit, I was messing around with some 80s vibe images just for the hell of it and figured I’d post ’em here while I was busy rambling.

When I’m feeling a bit off, whether physically, mentally, or in this case, both, I find a little vintage 80s can help raise my mood a bit.

Even when viewed through the rose (pastel?) colored lens of nostalgia, the 80s were fun, man. And while some might disagree, a lot of the stuff holds up as long as you keep it in perspective, and accept it for what it is.

Were the styles over the top? Yep.

Were the movies? Yeah, a good lot of them were too.

I’ll be back.

But, they were fun, and for the most part, original. Reboots were not the massive thing they are now.

Maybe some of it was bombastic and corny, but at least people were still trying to come up with some original shit.

Rockin’ them shoulder pads…

Anyhow, I really didn’t have much else to say other than I hope everyone’s having an awesome Saturday, and I hope I can come up with something decent to post soon! ๐Ÿ˜„

Take care, folks! Here’s a little parting gift.

Ughhh I LOVE this!!!!! Made my day Kevin…for some reason also reliving the 80’s (in a different way) in my post….I remember this blue sweatsuit I had as a kid, sweatshirt/stirrup pants combo but the shirt said “Miami Mice” and had a pic of two cool mice on it. I thought it was so hilarious and clever lol….it wasn’t.

    1. Well, I guess not everything aged well from that era, but then again, I suppose that can be said of all decades ๐Ÿ˜„
That said, I still enjoyed the hell out of it ๐Ÿ˜Ž

  8. Weather extremes like that are terrible when you’re trying to recover from something. Not to make you feel worse, but tree pollen will be in the air very soon. Miami Vice was a great intro and I’m off to listen to the intro theme now. I hope you feel better!

    1. It definitely seemed like a simpler time for sure. Partly because for me, it was. I didn’t have adult responsibilities and all that good shit yet. But, the adults seemed a lot happier overall too, so I dunno ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ˜„

  11. “70 degrees during the day, and then snow/rain mix overnight, 50 degrees with high winds” that is pretty wild weather and it doesn’t help whatever you picked up. I hope youn feel better soon. I love your 80’s style pictures.

Sorry to hear you’ve been feeling off, Kevin. I hope you recover quickly ๐Ÿ™ …Those weather changes definitely donโ€™t help, especially with respiratory issues. Take care of yourself, Brother.

It’s been like that here as well. Last week we had 60s and 70s, then the next day we were hit with 20-30 degrees and 2.5 inches of that damn white crap… ๐ŸŒจ๏ธ

Also, these 80s images are awesome. Totally agree with you, even through the lens of nostalgia, that decade had a unique charm. Sometimes a little vintage 80s throwback is just what you need to lift your spirits. Thanks for sharing, and here’s to better and warmer days ahead. ๐Ÿ’ชโœจ

Yeas, it’s definitely been a trying time with the weather. Just cannot adapt to anything.
We didn’t get an accumulation the other night, but it was a bit of wintry mix. Today, it was 65 and now the temp is headed to 25. That’s a substantial drop!

Glad you enjoyed the pics. ๐Ÿ˜Ž
There was definitely a spirit all it’s own in the 80s. Even the grown ups seemed happier, so it’s not all just childhood memories coloring my recollection!

It’s so hard to be objective about times when one was young and so many firsts are happening on the way to adulthood. Most of us weren’t privy to the greatest fears of the time, had others there to tell us it was all going to be okay. Those were my teen years and exciting, but also turbulent, so I feel a wide range of emotion with 80s nostalgia! It’s a fun aesthetic, though.

    1. Well, part of the charm is definitely that we had a lot less responsibilities for sure. If I were an adult in that era my thoughts might be different, but even the adults didn’t seem as unhappy as they do today.
There wasn’t as much anxiety about living paycheck to paycheck, people often found and stayed at jobs for years, decades, even.
Not saying it was perfect by any stretch, but we also didn’t have a lot of the “crap” that is around today either, and we weren’t so bogged down by distractions from all sides.
Was it all great? Nah, but it could have been far worse ๐Ÿ˜„

Being so overly connected and knowing, and having to know(!) everyone’s opinions about everything in a sort of swarm way, is definitely stressful! And yes, this changing jobs constantly nonsense is for the birds!

        Liked by 1 person

      2. It is a lot, and we didn’t see as much of that back then, which definitely made the plate a little lighter in at least one regard.
Unfortunately, the job thing is a byproduct of our corporate society. It’s all about the shareholders now. Not about an honest day’s work for an honest day;s pay and you retire happy. Now, to get that just compensation, you have to keep jumping to the highest bidder.

That’s so right. My company is a strong example of a company that 25 years ago or so had an “employee first” vision and really lived up to that until they went public. Now they’re private again, but not in the same way… owned by investors who will still keep reducing benefits and squeezing few to do the work of many. It can’t be done, so everything just falls short.

      4. “Privately owned” and “owned by a private equity” are two things that people (not you, obviously) seem to think mean the same thing, but they totally don’t.
A private equity is still the same as corporate ownership in that you are working to stuff the pockets of others. It’s usually just a slightly smaller table of them. ๐Ÿ˜„
