Since I’ve been in “music” mode lately, I am going to fire out another Triple S this week. I’m trying to write something for NTT, but I am coming up empty at the moment, so I figured I’d redirect for a moment. ๐
“Give me something to believe in.”
I think these days this song resonates with me more than ever.
And you can say what you want about Poison, but I will stand by the feeling that they had some pretty damn catchy songs. No, they aren’t Rush by any stretch of the imagination, but sometimes a simple song speaks volumes on it’s own.
This one says a lot.
This is the Night Ranger cover of the old Damn Yankees tune. I like both versions, but this one gets the edge slightly because of the way they incorporated “Stranglehold” in there. I’m not getting into the whole “Ted Nugent” thing either. I’m just gonna enjoy the music.
Metal Elvis! ๐ค๐๐ค
I’m not the world’s biggest Elvis fan, I will admit, but I do rather like a few of his songs and this is one of them. I love the addition of a little Metallica. A little extra spice in the stew never hurt. Fun stuff!
Much like Poison, Warrant takes their share of crap, but again, Jani Lane could write a good tune.
Their debut album will always be stuck in my head because it’s some of the last music I had bought before I went to boot camp. It came out shortly before high school graduation, and me and my buddy would ride around and crank it up. Damn catchy and just fun. Life ain’t always gotta be heavy.

Moonweasel appreciates a good power ballad from time to time.
Jeff Healey was so incredibly talented that it’s almost insane how great he was. Some would be tempted to say “especially for a blind guy”, but screw that – He was just plain talented, sighted or not. In any reality and any universe, Jeff Healey is just a plain fantastic musician. The man could tear it the hell up.
And since I’m on a roll…
I rarely feature the same artist twice in one post, but this is hands down my favorite Jeff Healey song, so we’re gonna rock it to close out this edition.
There’s a memory attached to this one too. I actually bought this in Saudi Arabia while we were in the rear at base camp before we moved forward towards Kuwait. I would crank the living snot out of this tune almost every night on my Walkman (Woah! Flashback! ๐). I absolutely love it.
And, on that note, this week’s edition comes to a close. Thanks for reading and happy listening! ๐ค๐๐ค
