Like It Was Yesterday

Daily writing prompt
When you were five, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Ah, yes…I remember it all so clearly. Join me now, friends, as we take a journey through a portal to the past…

At first I wanted to be an astronaut, but then I heard those dumb monkeys beat us to it.

Then I thought being a mechanic like my dad would be kind of neat, but then I decided my dad was a big stupid head.

Then I figured I’d be a firefighter like my uncle. But he said I was capable of better and should go do smart people stuff.

Then I decided I would be a soldier like my grandpa. He died when I was little. I missed him a lot.

I decided after my time being a soldier was done, I would do something really fun and become the lord of all time, space and reality. Super cool, right??

My mom said I will have to get a normal people job, but I don’t wanna. It doesn’t sound as much fun as being the boss of my own Super Simian Army.

  10. I don’t remember being 5 but always had a fantasy with curtains. I am now a certified interior designer and planning to launch my own fabric and wall paper company. Wish me luck!!

  11. Loved this. Childhood is a great time to try out many different things. At 5 I was going to be an artist and take the world by storm with my paintings. My parents supplied me with paper, paint, and brushes. My dream of being an artist lasted till I was 6 and decided I would rather just keep coloring in my coloring books. Next came the prima ballerina dream and I never regretted taking ballet lessons they made me a great dancer.

As for what I wanted to be at 5 years old. I don’t remember. Or I didn’t have any ideas to what I wanted to be at such a young age.
