What’s In Store For ’24?

Well, it’s that time of year again I guess, isn’t it? While I usually stay away from the whole “resolutions” thing, I do regularly set goals for myself throughout the year and with the way 2023 ended I have already set some new ones going into 2024.

I’m going to try and take the things I have learned this year and implement them to grow and improve. I’m trying more and more these days to focus on the process and the journey. I realize now that every day cannot be a home run and more often than not, we have to take the singles and the doubles if we have a hope of scoring.

So anyhow, without further ado, here’s what I have started or am starting heading into the new year.

Rebuilding The Perfect (Or As Close As Possible) Beast: As I have stated several times already, one of the things I truly let fall to the wayside was my fitness. One of the first things I did when I found myself unemployed was resume my regular workouts. To add a little something to that, I am going to start a 30-day pushup challenge tomorrow. For 30 days, starting January 1st, I am going to do a minimum of 200 pushups daily. To keep it flexible for myself, these may all be done together or in multiple sessions throughout the day. As long as I hit at least 200 reps, I have met the challenge for that 24 hour period. I will be tracking and posting this to keep myself honest. To cut down on the meaningless notifications, I will probably just make it a weekly update.

Place More Focus On Learning: This one will be starting on January 2nd, as I have signed up for an 8-week course at a local college. Assuming I survive that, and the school survives me, I will then begin looking at pursuing an associates degree, most likely in business management. Not gonna lie when I say that I am more than a bit nervous about this one. It’s been a minute or two since I’ve been in a classroom setting. Nervous, but looking forward to it.

Get A Job That Satisfies Me, Aligns With My Values And Allows For Growth: I’ll also be looking for a new job, but I will be looking with a whole new mindset. I want one with lots of room for growth, but I have also learned that one can grow without killing themselves. I have always prided myself on giving my absolute best effort wherever I have worked, but now I am starting to appreciate the fine art of setting boundaries. I have a lot to offer, but I am done settling for table scraps. Loyalty to me and mine first.

Continue Growing This Blog: I started this blog a little less than a month ago and it’s been an absolute blast so far. I’ve had a great time writing and have already met and conversed with some really amazing, supportive people. I want to continue this adventure, see it grow, and hopefully be of some use to some folks out there. I truly enjoy the writing process and am beyond grateful to those of you who take the time to read it. I am very, very glad I ended up here doing this.

As the new year rolls on, I am sure new challenges and goals will arise. I look forward to them and all the opportunities they will bring.

In closing I want to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! May it bring you everything you want and even more!

    1. Melissa, thanks very much and likewise here. As much as I love the writing process, I also truly enjoy reading what everyone else has to say, to see what they’re going though and how they are overcoming their challenges. It gives me a huge dose of motivation and reminds me we all have challenges and just how lucky I really am.
Have a Happy New Year! I hope it brings you everything you want and more!
