WP is the main jam

Daily writing prompt
How do you use social media?

I don’t really do much other than WP. Never really had the urge. And overall, other social media just seems too pissy to me. I get enough of that in daily life that I don’t feel I need any more.

Everyone I talk to always seems agitated when they get off their pages, and it really doesn’t seem they enjoy it all that much. They’re not talking to someone because of something that happened online, etc.

Life is already tough enough sometimes, and it seems like they intentionally want to make it harder on themselves. I fail to see the allure.

  1. Beautifully written 💐 but I think social media has good and bad effects equally. Well shared 💐

    1. Thank you, Priti. Personally, I am just as happy not participating in it, If others enjoy it, I am happy for them.

  2. It sounds like you’ve found your own peaceful corner in the digital world! It’s refreshing to hear someone prioritizing their mental well-being over the noise of social media. It’s amazing how much more fulfilling life can be when we focus on genuine connections and meaningful experiences offline. Kudos to you Kevin for recognizing what brings you joy and sticking to it!

  3. I can see why you’d want to avoid social media. I’ve seen it be force for amazing good but more often than not, a platform for bullies full of…crap. We don’t need that in our lives, haha. I’m so glad you know what you want and don’t want, Kevin. I’m also sooo glad you write on WP because I love having you as a mate xx

    1. Thanks, Janet. It’s just not something that appeals to me and I feel fine avoiding it. I am glad for the folks who find it rewarding. I am just not one of them who feels a need to be there.

  4. Nice to know that, you prioritize simplicity and avoiding unnecessary stress, which is completely valid.
Social media can indeed be overwhelming and filled with negativity for some people. Focusing on what brings you peace and fulfillment is important. If you find that in WP and other offline activities, then that’s great

    1. Thank you, Mr Philo. I am glad for anyone who enjoys it. It just doesn’t appeal to me as a whole.

      1. No worries! Humor is subjective, and not everyone’s cup of tea. We all have our own tastes and preferences. As long as we can respect each other’s differences, that’s what matters. So, cheers to embracing our individual quirks! 🥂

I think there must be a difference between having a social media account and “doing social media” lol. I have a Facebook account. People can add me and send me messages if they want, but I don’t post on it and I don’t read their posts. Like you said it’s 99% angsty rants and I don’t understand why people would want the world to know those thoughts or why they would want to read other people’s. I guess it makes people feel like they’re good people when they react in support of someone they’ve only met once. I don’t care about people I don’t know very well. At all. 😅

    1. I can get the concept of the angry rant from time to time. Done it myself before. But, for some reason, it seems like traditional social media has become a nonstop well of vitriol and anger. It’s like there’s a “two pissy rant” minimum to get in the door.

Yeah and it’s different if you’re angry about something that matters. Facebook is just comprised of people arguing over whether or not the moon exists.

A lot of low-IQ old men have been convinced by Reddit and YouTube that space is a myth and the Earth is flat.
