I think advice and guidance can come from many places. While we all likely have those few “go-to” people in our lives (the main driver of this question, I’m sure), there are some unlikely sources as well.
Elders

Of the likely sources, I’m sure a lot of us have parents, grandparents, etc., whom we have turned to at some point in our lives. If not them, then likely there was some other elder figure whom offered us a slice or two of sage wisdom to get through our days. We might not have always followed it, but they were there nonetheless.
Peers

Most of us have a few close friends we can turn to for advice, or at th least, as a sounding board. Oftentimes, they don’t have to say anything, as once we talk to them, the answer reveals itself to us. That’s around the time they give you that knowing nod, indicating you had the solution all along and just needed to say it out loud.
Books

The written word can often be a great source of advice. And not just “self-help” or “how-to” books. Sometimes a biography, or even a good piece of fiction can gives us insights into certain situations. Even if it isn’t the verbatim advice you need, sometimes a word or two that we read can spark an idea or a solution to something that has been beguiling us.
Me, Myself & I

Yes, indeed…Oftentimes, the finest purveyor of advice is indeed our little ol’ selves. Perhaps not always, but I am sure we can all think of multiple times when we instinctively knew the right course of action we wanted or needed to follow. Perhaps we had the confidence to execute, or perhaps we didn’t. But our gut will rarely lead us wrong if we just trust in ourselves.
Perhaps a lot of the times when we seek advice from others, what we are really looking for is validation that we are on the right path.
