On Friendship

Two more different one can’t find

With you I’m free to speak my mind

To talk about my hopes and dreams

One can’t find a better team

Where I say black, you say white

Neither wrong, yet both are right

You aren’t a critic, aren’t a judge

You have my back and never budge

When life is bad you’re there for good

Just like you always said you would

Words of praise, there aren’t enough

You’re always there when times are tough

When I cry, you dry my tears

When I’m far, you draw me near

When I’m standing on the ledge

Your voice it pulls me from the edge

When I’m broke you help me mend

I’ll never find a better friend

Β© The Beginning At Last

Dedicated to all those who have found that friend they can always count on no matter what. When the chips are down, they are by your side without hesitation. They don’t care about your past, mistakes you’ve made, or any other drama. They value you for the person you are, and they trust you just as much as you trust them.

With one good friend, nothing can stand in your way.

  2. Great stuff, Kevin, as always!

I personally haven’t had a friendship like the one you described in a long time. I don’t say that to sound all β€œwoe is me”. In fact, I said it just to point out how incredibly rare and special it is.

You are quite correct – friendships like that are not an everyday occurrence by any means. When found, they should be cherished.

  7. Love the dedication. As you gain more experience in life your circle of friends decrease. But, if you’ve found your ride or die I think you are one of the luckiest few!

    1. Indeed. It’s a rare thing in this world. More so as society and perceptions of what a good life is shifts constantly.
Self-care seems to get confused with selfish an awful lot.
