In search of Renard

Reblogging Alice’s post, as I too, hope Renard is ok. While it is certainly possible he just said the heck with it and bailed, Renard seemed to be a very committed blogger who was in it for the long haul.

If anyone knows, and/or can share, is he ok? I don’t know if anyone has contact with him outside WP or not.

I’ve also noticed that recently, it seems like a lot of folks have gone MIA. Some have taken leaves, some have said goodbyes, and some have just either started blogging a lot less or stopped completely.

To each their own, I say. But some of them are truly missed, no doubt.

I also realize it’s nicer weather and people might simply be traveling or just getting outside more. Regardless, I wish everyone the best and hope they’re all okay.

    I have followed Renard’s World for years so I am shocked to see his blog missing. I would think Renard is ok and can’t help but wonder if something else is going on for his blog to disappear. Like WordPress buggering it up. I wouldn’t have thought he disappear without saying something.

      That’s what I am also wondering. Did something go sideways with WP itself? It does seem highly out of the ordinary, given all the time and care he puts into his content.

        Yes, it seems very odd and WordPress being what it has been with them doing unnecessary tweaking here and there, I naturally can’t help but wonder if it is something to do with them then Renard. Like you, I swore blind I had seen a blog post yesterday or definitely at the weekend I seen more than one post of his.

        I am 99% sure I saw a post and comments on others’ blogs withing the last 24 hours and nothing seemed out of the ordinary that I can recall.

        When I learnt from your blog post that Renard had gone I looked at my subscription list on my dashboard and he wasn’t there. I typed up his website and nothing appeared in the reader.

    read Alice’s post….it’s strange. .. through reader his blog is accessible but says he posted 2 days ago … through site says deleted. Renard is always consistent…

        I checked again… accessed through a like on my post.
        Doubt it, Kevin…. Renard is well aware of all these wp issues and would have worked around it by now….2 days ago is worrying for some reason.

        Two days. I swear I saw him more recently than that. But, I have been working, and the 12 hour shifts kind of run together sometimes.

        also was so sure I had seen a recent post…but I tried commenting on his last post now…it’s kicking out the comments too.

        (mechanical sometimes… to these odd hours 😬)

        I swear I saw him within the last day. A post of his own, and a comment or two on one of (IIRC) AM’s posts.
        Usually when that happens to me, I find ultimately, the post has been deleted and the system just doesn’t reflect it immediately.

        See, I am 50/50 on that. Depending on circumstances, I can see some folks not wanting the fanfare of a goodbye. They might just quietly move on. 🤷‍♂️

        I don’t think either option is overly great, honestly. But if it’s not a massive technical faux pas, there aren’t a lot of other great avenues to go down.

        You know Kev I have had an issue with my notification bell and if I remember right, you said you did too.

        I have just posted a rant after a further issue regarding with it this morning. Although after I hit publish, the bug went. But still an issue when using it on reader page. So it’s going to be hit and miss me replying to other people’s comments at their blogs if it carries on.

        And you have said what I have thought. If this Renard’s World disappearance is anything to do with WordPress, then what’s to say our blogs won’t be next with the glitches currently going.

        This platform is atrocious for me today. Pages are not loading properly, the notification sidebar keeps disappearing, and I cannot even scroll on some pages. This is ridiculous, I swear.

        I am like. Should I set up my blog with blogger of my same blog name because I will still have a few that would keep in touch. But right now. I am getting where I can’t be arsed. I will miss a lot of people. But I have a handfull that will keep in touch via email as we have done for years. Cos even if I blogged back at Blogger using same name as here for my blog, I always came here to comment on peoples blogs and the commenting at others is glitchy as trying to respond to my own. It’s no fun.

    I thought I seen blog posts of Renard too in the last day. But if not, definitely two days before with nothing to say he was going. I can’t see his blog at all. Not even in my subscription list. Completely disappeared.

      I can confirm that he’s disappeared from my subscription list too. Could still be a major technical issue. But then Renard would be on it, right?

        True. Renard published his post always on the clock. The fact that he didn’t do it this morning and his website is not online anymore is deeply troubling. Oh, I really hope Renard’s alright.

    I googled Renard’s World and narrowed the search term down and from the Google search Renard had posted a day ago. So he has disappeared some time yesterday.

    Oh? I did not notice he was gone, but I guess that’s true.

    I don’t know Renard very well, but I now that he’s a bit like me, stubborn like hell and he loves to blog. He has stated multiple times that he will NEVER EVER delete his blog, so this much be a WordPress glitch gone a thousand ways wrong.

    It’s strange to delete a blog suddenly. I’ve lost interest a few times over the years, but I usually leave it up. When I do “delete” my blog it’s just to clear out old posts and begin anew. I know of several bloggers who are MIA, but they still have their content up, they just don’t update. A few of them are people who have been trying to quit drinking for 10 years, so I can imagine what’s going on lol. Hope he’s okay. At least you know for his blog to have been deleted, he would have had to do it.

      That’s my thought too. I am seriously doubting it’s a WP glitch. If so, that’s a huge one, and a huge problem.

    I bumped into Renards World many moons ago when I was just breaking out into blogging and living in Riga, Latvia. We connected through blogging and then somewhere along the line lost touch. After I had relocated to Florida back in 2018 I found his blog again and was glad to see he was still at it. Been following him since then again and loved to see he was active and a strong blogger. It was a great surprise to find him missing from the blog world. I certainly hope he is all right and wish him all the best but I also agree with everyone else that for someone like Renard to suddenly stop blogging so abruptly something unexpected must have happened and I would have expected him to put in one more post to warn everyone, Wishing and hoping all the best for him,

        I have my doubts that an entire blog disappearing is a glitch. If it were, I am sure other blogs would be affected too, and there would be people screaming long and loud by now. That said, I would like to be wrong.
