To you, they were a soldier.
To someone else they are:
Father.
Son.
Brother.
Mother.
Daughter.
Sister.
Cousin.
Friend.
Every soldier is a special someone in somebody’s life. When a warrior falls in defense of their homeland and it’s citizens, we sometimes forget that somewhere a mother just lost a son, a wife just lost a husband, or a little girl lost her mommy or daddy.
Nothing can ever fill that void in those people’s lives. Ever.
The very least we can do is take a moment to remember.
For all the fine men and women who gave their lives in conflict, I express my gratitude.
I pray for the day when sacrifices like those are no longer necessary.
