Headed toward destruction
Just past the speed of light
A star gone supernova
This will be my final flight
Said goodbye to family
Said goodbye to friends
I went to sleep contented
Content to meet my end
The life I lived was good
Well, maybe not so much
A relic from another age
So distant, out of touch
I really don’t belong here
I never really did
I think I always knew it
But from myself I kept it hid
I can feel the heat increasing
I’m getting closer now
This was a one way mission
Take one last final bow
Total system failure
Take a breath and close my eyes
I’ve made my peace, I’m ready
I’m ready now to die
In a flash it happened
Felt my soul rip right in two
My brain it was on fire
I was bathed in light of blue
I heard a voice, it whispered
It said “Your time has not arrived”
An energy consumed me
I was whole, I was alive
But I was not what I’d been
What I’d been I’ve left behind
I am energy ascendant
I don’t truly understand
I’m not a demon or a god
But I’m far from mortal man
While my purpose, it escapes me
I’ll discover it one day
But until that time arrives
I shall roam the Milky Way
