Lone Conqueror

In the distance, foreboding, a castle in black

So far I have come, there is no turning back

Through the trials and tortures, I have conquered them all

As I stand at the cusp, they are destined to fall

Overlords evil, spreading hatred and fear

My heart’s beating faster, destination draws near

Allies I found, but also allies I lost

They were taken by fear and could not pay the cost

So I stand here alone, though my courage might ebb

I know deep inside, I must enter the web

And though I may fall in this “foolhardy” quest

When you speak of my name, speak it deep in your chest

For if alone I must stand, I will press, I will try

And I will venture forth ’til the day that I die

LOL – the pain in your hand has inspired you. I enjoyed this poem and your last two lines, perfect.

Reminds me of Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson in SOMETHING’S GOTTA GIVE movie. She’s a writer, he breaks her heart and she does her best writing while she’s crying about the break up!

Pain, interpersonal strife, depression, etc. It can be a good fuel if used wisely.
