TLDR Version: Be thankful for what you’ve got, because others aren’t always so lucky.
I thought about making a gorilla or moonweasel pic for this post, but upon further thought, I decided to try playing it straight for once.
This morning I submitted my formal resignation to my current position. In the next few weeks, I will be embarking on my newest adventure.
It was a mixture of emotions, to be quite honest. Regular readers will likely recall my lucky-not-to-be-broken fingers, the Silo Wars, 113ยฐ temperatures and so on.
When I told a lot of my friends I was moving onto other things, it was usually followed by a litany of “Good!”, “F that place!”, and so on.
But, a funny thing often (not always, I know) happens when you’re about to leave a situation: You realize there were a fair amount of good points too.
You realize that you’re pretty damn grateful that someone saw something in you that made them want you on board.
You realize that for every pain in the ass, there are usually five pretty cool things or people around you.
You look back and when you truly see where you were, you realize how far you’ve come, and how lucky you really are.
I’ve been blessed to have worked for some pretty damn good bosses, with some pretty cool people, and for companies that helped put a generous amount bread on my table.
As I look forward to this next chapter, I look back with a feeling of gratitude and accomplishment.
And that gratitude, of course, is not limited to work situations.
I am grateful for the things, and particularly, the people, who have come into my life. Some in very unexpected ways.
I am grateful for you fine folks who read, like and/or comment on my silly bullshit. While I may be more absent than usual lately, please know that you are still greatly appreciated no matter what.
And last but not least, I am grateful to just be a plain, simple…
Ah, fuck it. Here. ๐
