When someone feels the need to justify their worth/importance/value, etc., I just tune out, because 99.9% of the time, it just screams massive insecurity to me.
There’s a lot of other behaviors that raise one’s hackles, but this is the one that immediately came to mind.

So true! “I’m so nice,” “I’m so honest,” and “I’m such a great person,” they’re in mine (when I finally decide to post it) lol and I’m pretty sure I wrote “raises my hackles” somewhere 😆 but yes indeed, qualities that are no good.

A form of Insecurity – I am there with you. Lack of appreciation, sneaky behavior, dishonesty, insecurity, and jealousy are major red flags. When someone fails to show genuine appreciation, acts covertly, lies, or displays insecurity and jealousy, it undermines trust and makes me cautious. Healthy relationships should be founded on honesty and mutual respect.
