Power Visions: Magenta

PERHAPS THE GREATEST POWER ONE CAN POSSIBLY HAVE IS PERSEVERANCE.

I didn’t really have any posts planned for today, but I was awake early and felt the need to try doing something creative.

Power can come in many different forms, and we all have our own unique powers. Some may be physically stronger than others, while another may be more “book smart” than others. And yet another may be more “street smart” than those around them.

We all have our strengths and weaknesses. Our pros and cons, as it were.

But one power we should all attempt to activate and curate? Resilience.

Some people are more resilient than others. Whether they’re born with it, it’s thrust upon us or some mixture of many things, it’s just what it is.

Some days I don’t feel very resilient. Yesterday was one of those days.

It gets tiresome falling, or getting knocked down what feels like endlessly. Sometimes staying down just feels a hell of a lot easier.

What makes me get back up? Ego? Pride? Habit? Stupidity? Likely “all of the above” to some degree or another.

As I look at it through a more logical and detached lens this morning, I almost feel like resilience is something like a muscle. It needs to be trained to get bigger and stronger.

Weight training, at it’s core, is breaking down the muscle so it grows back stronger. Is life not similar? Is resilience the result of getting torn down and us growing back stronger?

I don’t know if that’s true or accurate, but for today, it makes sense to me, so I am rolling with it and trying my best to build that muscle back up.

Stay powerful, and stay resilient.

  3. Love the message here and I agree. I love how you related it to building up muscle. It takes time. And at times, our muscles need rest and are fatigued. Ever run a marathon? Participated in some strenuous exercise for lengthy periods of time and itโ€™s just at that point where muscles are pushed to failure? Well, thatโ€™s similar. You get hit with so much, that resilience feels like it can give no more. Thatโ€™s when we need to shut down, and rest. Recuperate. Evaluate. But never stagnate. ๐Ÿ˜œ

      4. Mental fortitude is something that takes a while, and it can crack very easily given the right formula at times. Thatโ€™s why you see lots of people who โ€œhave it all togetherโ€ finally breakdown. Itโ€™s so much of holding.it.all.in.

    2. Sometimes I think we get a “tear” in our resilience muscle and it needs to rehab too. Which would dovetail nicely off “recuperate” as you put it.
The trick, and it’s definitely not easy, is keeping it from atrophying further. That can be tough sometimes.

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Ahh atrophying! Love how you said this. I actually was just watching something on โ€œmuscle memoryโ€ and how if you take a break from exercise or โ€œliftingโ€ so to speak, you may feel like you lose muscle, but if you start up again, youโ€™ll put it back on faster. So while it feels like it may be in a decline, it can come back even faster if thatโ€™s what we put our effort into.

I once had an episode a few years ago where I went to work out too hard, too fast. Addicted to the endorphins and the rush, really pushing my body. I was so, so sore. And it was actually counterproductive because I was over fatigued and stressing my adrenals, actually building up cortisol instead of releasing it. I couldnโ€™t figure out why I looked so swore, swollen, and bloated when I was working out like a maniac everyday.

I think we all need those recuperation periods.

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Muscle memory is potent indeed. It can be useful. But, yeah, when we push too hard it can be counterproductive. Much like when our mental energy is low because we’re getting too taxed.
Our resilience needs that break sometimes too. Nothing is infinite.
