The feeling when you discover that the “Likes” aren’t sticking again. ๐Ÿ™„

Seriously. Is a like button really that difficult to figure out? I’m no web design guru, but it seems like a pretty standard function these days.

The Disregard of Subscribing

In the past three days, I have watched my subscriber count go from 813 to 815, down to 814 and then back to 815 again. Now, it is feasible that it was legit unfollows, but if I had to wager on it, I’d be far more likely to bet that it’s the random unsubscribe bug at work. Only because it’s happened to me on both ends of the spectrum multiple times over the past year.

It was 815 a hot minute ago…

The Anticlimax of Holidays

AKA: The post-holiday letdown. It’s always amazing to me how fun the buildup to Christmas can be, only for it to all be over in the blink of an eye. It seems like the anticipation of holidays, much like a lot of things in life, is where the real excitement lies. It’s about the journey, etc.

Photo Poems and NTT

I know quite a few of you have already seen the photo poems on my page and also on Laura’s, and I wanted to say thank you all for the wonderful reception, and also to recognize Laura again for all her hard work. She came up with the idea and put them together, so without her, these would not have happened. Thank you ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜Š

NTT will be back next week, January 2nd. I have been working on the return installment, and I hope everyone enjoys it.

I don’t usually do this, but here’s a little teaser:

NTT Returns 01/02/25.

And on that note, I bid thee all adieu for the moment. Have a great day!

Stay Frosty, Kids.

  1. I’m taking the over on this bet. The likes and subscribers disappear to much to be anything more than WP and their antics. I have to re-subscribe to people now and again for who knows why. I agree the joy is in the journey also brother.

I’m really digging the new collabs you two are working on, much gratitude to you both for tackling it in a unique fashion and yes I am looking forward to NTT. The tease is worth a thousand words.

    1. Yeah, I agree that it’s far too frequent to be anything but WP silliness. If it weren’t so annoying it would actually be comical lol

Thank you very much. I am enjoying them too. It’s nice to have something different to present to everyone from time to time. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I hope everyone enjoys the teaser. I also hope everyone enjoys the new batch of pics. I really tried to come up with some unique takes for this return edition.

  3. Kevin, if I’m reading this right, you can’t like someone’s post …. is that the problem? If so, I may be able to help you.

Whenever I can’t “like” a post, I leave a comment about the post first then click “like”. For whatever reason ….. and who needs a reason when dealing with WordPress? ….. leaving a comment ‘unlocks’ something, allowing me to like the post.

Try it. Maybe it’ll work for you, too. ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ

    1. I can like it, but then when I go back a day or two later, my like is not there and I have to click it again. I have done the comment thing too, and sometimes it works, and other times it doesn’t.
WP is certainly consistent in its inconsistency of nothing else ๐Ÿ˜„

      1. Really? That’s interesting (and annoying)!

I’ve never gone back to check if my like is still there.

WordPress is like the man behind the curtain in the Wizard of Oz. No one really knows what he’s doing …. not even him! ๐Ÿ˜‚

      2. Annoying for sure. ๐Ÿ˜„
That’s the kicker – If you don’t happen to go back, you’d likely never know if it stayed more than a hot minute. I discovered that by accident on posts I KNOW for a fact I liked. Frustrating.
Yes, the man behind the curtain needs to remove his head from his posterior! ๐Ÿ˜„

  4. Iโ€™ve been involuntarily unsubscribed to blogs and itโ€™s been a little irritating. Iโ€™m not sure whatโ€™s going on.

    Liked by 1 person

    1. I don’t know either, but it’s been going on for a long damned time. I don’t think it can be called a glitch anymore. It’s a fullblown issue.

  5. Iโ€™ve noticed the โ€œlikeโ€ button glitch too. Right before reading this post, I was fighting with the like button on another post. The like wouldnโ€™t take. But I fought it tenaciously and I clicked, and I clicked, and I clicked over and over and finally it took. A lot of people have been complaining about subscriptions dropping without the person unsubscribing. It seems to be the real thing. On another note, congratulations on reaching more than 800 subscribers. ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ†๐Ÿฅ‚

    1. Yes, these issues are definitely legit, and it makes interacting tough because you hate to think that people think you’re ignoring them, which is usually not the case at all. Most of us are truly trying and getting stymied by the system.
Thank you very much! I am deeply humbled by the kind words from everyone. Far more credit than I really deserve. ๐Ÿ™

Iโ€™ve been having similar issues on WordPress lately, some of my comments are going to peopleโ€™s spam folders, and some of theirs are ending up in mine. Not sure whatโ€™s going on. Looks like we might need to send another complaint to the Mayor and ask for some action again (haha) ๐Ÿ˜‚. On a different note, that picture is awesome ๐Ÿ“ธโœจ. Great job on it. ๐Ÿ‘

    1. Perhaps they are indeed in need of some political pressure! ๐Ÿ˜„
It is frustrating, especially since it’s almost always random – there’s rarely a pattern. It can be fine for days on end and suddenly out of nowhere everything goes sideways.

Glad you enjoyed the pic! Hopefully enjoys the full upcoming edition! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

  7. Iโ€™m loving this swampy vibe ๐ŸŠ itโ€™s giving me all kinds of ideas! ๐Ÿ’€

Yeah, the likes not sticking and the subs being unsubbed seem like they have gone past โ€œglitchโ€ into โ€œhidden horrible featureโ€ territory. But letโ€™s screw with the reader and the app every 5 seconds. ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ–•

As always, loving the photo poems ๐Ÿคช and I so appreciate the recognition, but you are an essential ingredient to the recipe! ๐Ÿ˜œ ๐Ÿ˜˜

    1. You’re doing most of the heavy lifting on those. I really have not done much at all. ๐Ÿ˜„

I have what I think are some interesting images for next week. We’ll see if everyone else agrees or if my artistic eye is blind lol

Yes, they really don’t know how to focus on the true issues. Bells and whistles bullshit to distract everyone, when all it does is piss people off ๐Ÿ˜„

  8. As you know I have found this trouble when it comes to likes not sticking. What I have found is that when I have come across this issue. Rather than try the like button again. I have refreshed the page and found the like button did stick in the end. So this has worked for me everytime this has happened. (This has been when reading the posts in the reader and not the blog directly. )

    1. I usually have decent luck in Reader too, yes. It’s the actual blog pages and the notification bar that are my bane. Highly agitating!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Very rare when I comment directly on a blog. But when I have had issues there with liking. It just doesn’t happen because of either it not sticking or the like button hasn’t loaded on the site. I give up and don’t attempt.

I have also had issues where I can’t directly comment on a blog because it is asking me to log in. Even though I am already logged in. So, I don’t bother persuing any further there either.

        Liked by 1 person

      2. I have had that happen, but if I click on the login button it automatically loads and I am logged in. WP is just slow on the uptake I guess ๐Ÿ˜„

  12. Perhaps the unsubscribe thing is connected to bot accounts being taken down (and therefore unsubscribing to the blogs they had subscribed to)?

    Loving the swamp pic!
