WTF Is Leisure?

What do you enjoy doing most in your leisure time?

Beats the hell outta me, man.

I kid, of course. Well, kinda. ๐Ÿ˜„

Lord knows I have bitched plenty about my current, not so favorable, schedule on these pages.

It still wouldn’t be stellar, but it would be a damn sight better if it were daytime hours. Alas, sometimes we gotta do what we gotta do, eh?

Anyhow, I did answer this prompt last year, and while those answers still apply, I can add a few that I missed last time, I suppose.

Playing guitar:

Rock on, MFers!

I don’t think it’s a huge secret that I love music, and guitar music in general.

I recently bumped up my post about my favorite guitar, which, despite my inattention, remains a loyal and steadfast companion.

Full disclosure, I still have not picked it up recently. Hopefully soon, but I also have other stuff going on, just like all of you out there in WP Land. I did pick up a few instruction manuals recently that I hope to use to shake the rust off. They’re written by Steve Vai, so here’s hoping I can understand the teachings of a bonafide guitar god. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜„

Iron & Calisthenics:

While I have had spells of falling off the bandwagon, I usually get back on this one pretty damn quickly. I rarely stay off for long. I may not hit it 5x a week for 45 minutes or anything like that, but it’s not often a week goes by that I don’t toss some iron around. I shudder to think what a horrible human being I’d be without it!

And, of course, I am not adverse to a really stupid challenge once in awhile either. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Writing/Blogging:

At this time last year, I had no idea if I would still be doing this or not, to be totally honest, so it was not on the list. ๐Ÿ˜„

Needless to say, even though my output has dipped considerably since then, I still try to keep up with some writing. I have had to take a lot more steps back from it recently, but hey, stuff happens, right? When you work 60 hours every other week…Well, even a Gorilla Emperor God of Time, Space And Reality/Unofficial Part-Time Mayor must take a breather.

It’s not easy being G…

Anyhow, I think that’s enough “leisure” for one day. Have a great one, folks!

  1. Nice post, Kevin! I hear you on the guitar! My piano sits patiently, waiting for me to come to her and make music. I also love weightlifting! And blogging, of course!

The nice thing about instruments is they wait without judgement. They are reliable if nothing else!

  9. Excellent post I feel like America is like become all about work and no play and that makes Jack a dull boy.

We need to have a balance between the two and I feel like itโ€™s out of balance right now and has been for a long long time.

  10. Oh, Iโ€™m starting to see now for myself why the WordPress daily prompts are so repetitive. I logged into my site today and saw this one, but itโ€™s almost the same as the post a wrote the other day? Thatโ€™s so weird.

Most of us do fun things in our leisure time, right? I canโ€™t be the only oneโ€ฆ

Oh, and 60 hours work week? You must be exhausted. Have a cup of tea and relax my friend. Too much going on is bad for you.

    Liked by 3 people

    1. Yes, they take repetitive to a new level, for sure. ๐Ÿ˜„
There is a series of days somewhere along the line where the prompt was almost identical three or four times in one week. lol
Yes, my schedule kind of sucks at the current moment, but sometimes we just do what we have to, eh?
Thank you, my friend. I’ll take coffee though, for the record ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„

  12. Kevin, my man, youโ€™re basically a multitasking superhero with a guitar in one hand, a dumbbell in the other, and a keyboard under your chin. โ€œGorilla Emperor God of Time, Space, and Realityโ€?
I mean, if Marvel hasnโ€™t called yet, theyโ€™re slacking.
Just promise me one thing: when you finally shred that Steve Vai manual, donโ€™t open a portal to another dimension. Or if you do, at least write a killer blog post about it. Rock on, workout warrior, part-time mayor, and all-around legend!๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

    1. I’ll let you know if I meet Mr. Vai on the interstellar pathways of the guitariverse!
Marvel has not called yet. Maybe I need to jump over to DC and hang with the Batman! ๐Ÿฆ‡
Multitasking, in some ways, is just a nicer way of saying ADHD. ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Kevin, if you meet Mr. Vai, tell him the guitariverse calledโ€”they want their strings melted. And if Marvel ghosts you, DCโ€™s Batman will surely take you in; just donโ€™t ask for a Bat-signal Wiโ€”uh, flashlight upgrade. Multitasking? More like heroic chaos management! ๐Ÿฆ‡๐ŸŽธ๐Ÿ˜‚

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Mr. Vai said he has already crossed the dimensional plane and will be doing just that upon his return to the normal space/time continuum!
Batman can spare a flashlight or two. He’s a billionaire, after all!
Chaos management is more accurate than you know! ๐Ÿ˜„

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Kevin, you got it right! Mr. Vai’s already on his interdimensional tourโ€”next stop, a universe with better Wi-Fi. ๐Ÿ˜‚ And Batman? Flashlights are the least of his worries; he probably has a whole stash of emergency bat-lights. ๐Ÿฆ‡๐Ÿ’ก As for chaos management, it’s not just an art; it’s a lifestyle! ๐Ÿ˜œโœจ

      4. Well, Batman does have that snazzy utility belt, after all! I’m sure he’s got flashlights, spark plugs and a few bags of Doritos stashed in there!

If Mr. Vai is looking for better Wifi, I know he won’t be joining me at work for sure! ๐Ÿ˜œ

        Liked by 1 person

      5. Haha, true! Mr. Vai would be halfway to a new dimension by the time he hears โ€œlow signalโ€ at your work! And as for Batman, Doritos are definitely his “emergency snack of justice.” ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿฆ‡

    1. I would say I do a pretty fair job of it. I am able to juggle personnel across three departments at work, in addition to coordinating with other areas on the fly. Deeper tasks that need more concentration are a different story, but I think I handle the basics ok.

    1. That is quite true, Mary. Without a doubt that is the ideal state. I think I love elements of my work, but not all of them, for certain.
And, there is something to be said for not going into work with a terrible feeling in the pit of your gut. Even if you don’t love it, that alone can count for a lot.
