2/7/25: Looking back on this one, and honestly, my take really has not changed much at all. I guess it just goes to show that the more things change, the more they stay the same. 😄
What do I need a break from? Oh, hell… Lots of things.
Half-Assed Leaders:

Whether we’re talking business, politics (is there even a difference sometimes?), or what have you, a little bit of transparency, honesty, and oh, I don’t know… A freaking hint of a clue that you know what you’re doing would be really cool. And for chrissakes, if you’re gonna lie, could you at least get good at it so it doesn’t totally insult our intelligence?
Backstabbers:

Who hasn’t felt the lovely sensation of a fine, steely blade in between the shoulders at one time or another? I’d be willing to bet some of us have been stabbed so many times that we resemble a sprinkler when we drink water. Whether it’s a friend who turns on you when things get rough, a co-worker looking to improve their standing, or a family member who tried to turn you into the outcast, these S.O.B.’s really need to be gathered up and put on an island where they can slit each other’s throats until none are left standing.
Unreasonable Expectations:

Of course, life is full of expectations, but it seems these days that the expectations are venturing far beyond the pale. Every workplace is trying to do more and more with less and less, everyone is so spoiled that they expect their merchandise yesterday, and for some reason, people seem to think service worker = circus monkey. Get your head out of your ass, get off your high horse and look up the definition of the word “reasonable”.
Myself:

Some days, like today, I’d really love to take a break from myself and get out of my own damned head and leave my thoughts behind. While I have improved on a lot of things, I still have moments when I really, really get caught up in the quagmire of overthinking or overreacting. Once that starts, the left turn down Negativity Avenue is sure to follow.
Anyhow, that’s enough of my bitching for one day.
Take care and be good to yourselves, because you damn sure deserve it.
